I seem to remember the Dutch being the primary players in the slave trade. Wouldn't the logical legal recourse for the defendants be to file suit against them to recover their losses? While it wouldn't be politically correct, would the legal principles involved dictate that it be considered a product liability suit?

1. Statute of Limitations for any action has long since run for this suit.

2. The corporation's will get their attorney fees and costs defending this b.s.

3. There will be some very incompetent racist attorneys disbarred as a result.

4. I like this result. I only wish that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the rest of the poverty pimps had been foolish enough to be the named plaintiffs in the cases.

Oh, Manna-from-Heaven!

Corporations don't have 1.4 trillion dollars to settle reparations, now do they? This is all about greedy lawyers trying to shake down companies and black activists stepping in for their cut. When whits swing voters, Asians, Hispanics and other people who had NOTHING TO DO WITH SLAVERY find their prices and taxes going up because of reparations, guess who they're going to vote for?

So please, Democratic National Committee, step up to the plate and put Reparations front and center in the Party Platform.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Good point. That would certainly need to be added to the equation. Companies do that all the time in determining whether to issue a recall on a product. Not enough caffiene yet this morning...;-)

I consider Alan Keyes, Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams possessed of three of the finest minds extant today. In case you don’t know them, all are black.

But I believe Keyes, Sowell and Williams would oppose calls for reparations.

The modern descendants of slaves brought here in chains in admittedly miserable, soul-gutting conditions who are now calling for reparations need to remember a few things:

They should not only be glad to be in America, they should be glad to be ANYWHERE !

Had that NOT happened, the blood of their ancestors would have run into the earth over there several centuries ago and these modern day would-be "plaintiffs" would not even exist.

And should the great-great-great grandchildren of the approximately 3,000 SLAVE OWNING BLACK plantation owners in this country also be subject to PAYING these reparations?

If so, how do we find THEM?

Robert Hitt Neill tells of attending a Tennessee Mountain Writer’s Conference years ago with several other authors. Among them was Alex Hailey, celebrated author of “Roots.” Watching a TV news show, a group of them watched a demonstration in a Southern state against the “Rebel” flag incorporated into that state’s flag. The very next report covered a famine in Africa. Graphic images showed dead bodies, starving children with distended tummies and runny noses and dying people covered with flies, too weak to brush them away.

Mr. Hailey intoned in a low, serious voice:
“Every time an American black sees a story like that, they should find a Confederate flag and kiss it.” He then pointed to the TV screen and continued, “Because these would be me and my descendants, except for American slavery. I thank God that my family and I are here instead of there.”

Next problem!

Fight it! Don't let those damned scheister Lawyers succeed at extorting money from you. Press a counter-suit for Court costs incurred in defending this bunch of malarky!

"It doesn't matter how much we pay, it will never be enough"

Exactly. Its important that folks understand this. Certain groups in our society have developed a culture which revolves around using the political process for extraction of resources from other, more productive groups.

The whole purpose of political correctness, in all of its manifestations, is to morally disarm the white middle class so that they will not oppose the extraction process.

The reason why "it will never be enough" is because, subconsciously, these groups have made the estimation that their standard of living (if left to their own devices) would be substantially less than their standard of living is via the extraction process (as evidence, just look at how well these groups live when they reside in a society where there is no white middle class to exploit).

the cycle of unjust enrichment

Is that something like the "cycle of violence"?

Here's my suggestion for reparations:

Calculate the average income for Blacks living in Africa today.

Calculate the average income for Blacks living in the U.S. today.

Tax U.S. Blacks 10% of the difference.

It's only fair.

And it's gonna do wonders for the unity of the Democratic party. Oh, my bad. Most of their voters don't exist in the first place.

OK - I just got finished reading another post of a commentary by Neil Boortz. He talked about the "Loser Pays" scenario. Now I see what you're saying. I was not aware of that concept. I like it. It would certainly relieve the courts system of stupid lawsuits.

(Sorry, it's still early for me) :-)

Perhaps taxpayers can now sue for reparations for the trillions spent on welfare.

Good Morning Freepers,

We have been trying to laugh this issue off, poking fun here and there, thinking maybe common sense will prevail, now we are not so sure, it's gone so far that maybe money will change hands and it will be "our" money paid in the end.

I cannot speak for anyone here or anywhere, but my family, friends and many other's we have been speaking with have made up our minds that if one dime of "our" money is paid to people that cannot prove who owned slaves and who did not, we are going to file our own "Class Action Counter Suit", demanding that "Proof Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt" that our families owned "Slaves".

We will "demand" our percentge of this award (if any) be held back till "proof" is shown. We have even lined up our own Attorney's that will file these suits. We have found that if we can "sue" the IRS and win, we will sue these Hustlers too. They will be forced to "Put Up or Shut Up" with their stinking accusations, smearing every American with this "Racist Paintbrush".

My g-grandmother was Cherokee, she owned no slaves, she was one. My gg-grandfather did not come to America until just after the Civil War, they owned no slaves. I am sure a lot of other's feel the same way.

This suit will be filed if they win and if the Government uses "Our" money to pay this Blackmail, this we promise.

Don't know what other hard working Americans think about this, some will cave I guess, we well not, but this is what we seriously intend to do if it goes that far.

I am sure that the lawyers are not going to take a share of the lotto winnings. All the proceeds will go to the black community.
