If so, I won't be installing the software.
I put it that wasy on purpose. These people are not working. Santa Monica is known as Soviet Monica for a reason. Perhaps your background makes you a bit touchy on this subject. Don't take it so personal...I was not discussing NY.
You called me paranoid and suggested that I was projecting my feelings on to them. Nice try, but not even close. Several other of my neighbors have noticed this behavior as well. Perhaps it is due to a language barrier, but a smile is universal.
"Really? Has a russian speaking person screwed you over over the years?"
You seemed shocked by this, but I have done business with several Russians over the years and it each time was a nightmare. To call them untrustworthy was an understatement. I would go so far as to call them ruthless and I refuse to do business with any more Russians based on those experiences.
Yea. They are elderly. If it makes you feel better, then you can consider that the taxes that are covering them are coming out of the taxes my family and I (and their children) pay. NY? Are you suggesting that these immigrants from russa have different m.o.'s in different states?

They are elderly. I have met plenty of grumpy elderly non-russian speaking ladies (several are causing problems on my block and are generally annoying to everyone). I think you are being hyper sensitive with this particular group.

That's fine. I had mixed experiences with russians in NYC, but I can't say that they were some worse or better on the average then experiences that I had with non russians.
Sorry, but when I hear the stories of American elderly being pushed out or kept out by BS policy which favors the Russians, it pisses me off. I do not know exactly what kind of govt. kickbacks or taxbreaks are in place, but they are there and it is unfair to those who truly deserve and can pay for the rent themselves to be in those locations.
They can't pay their own way and speak the language cause many come here when they are 70 + years old. As I said, you can consider that the money that covers their care is coming out from my taxes, those elderly's children's taxes, and taxes of other Russian speaking immigrants. We pay our share, and most of us are upper middle class.

I am not aware of any policy that favors "the Russians".

Well, if you allege that they ARE indeed there, then you are neglecting your duty as a citizen in reporting these crimes, are you not?
Come for a visit & I'll be happy to show you what I am talking about.
About 6 years ago, I lived in Hollywood next door to a very nice building. Russian managers took over & would only rent to other Russians. They let their dogs urinate & defecate in the halls & elevator...some of my neighbors were threatened when they complained....many good people moved out to get away. Out of the dozens of new neighbors....there was ONE lovely couple who I became friends with and they were the ones who told me alot of stories about "back home". This couple was the one I spoke of in my first post. They are wonderful & kind people.
I am now done posting on this topic with you....I have to watch Arafat die.
Then it sounds like your beef with city regulations and property owners who choose to do this.
Come for a visit & I'll be happy to show you what I am talking about.
Be careful what you wish for :)
Dorm pic from college! It's my roommate's mess, I swear!!! :)
