Thanks for the ping. People need to realize that cracking down on illegal immigration along the U.S./Mexican border is not a slam against Mexicans. Many people from many different countries come into the U.S. via Mexico (and Canada, for that matter).

Many of the people Californians call "Okies" are not Oklahomans at all, just low class white Californians (Gary Condit was one unfortunate exceotion in that his parents WERE actually from Oklahoma). In As a matter of fact, many of the Okies bought land dirt cheap during the depression and now own some of the best farmland in California! In the future, I will refrain from the slur. Youse guys elect some great Senators!

I live in Santa Monica which is FULL of Russians who are collecting a check from the taxpayers. An elderly friend of mine couldn't even get into a retirement home due to all the govt. placed Russians. I walk by this Russian retirement home every day & always say a cheery "Hello"...I usually get the evil eye in return.

I also encountered this Russian influx in Hollywood, although there were 2 Russians that were actually friendly and told me many scary (and some funny) stories about the Russian people. Most other Russian encounters have been cold. I have found them to be most untrustworthy over the years.

Besides, the only part of Oklahoma that gives me the creeps is that panhandle. It seems like a desolate, scary place.
