I am sorry. Being besieged by the besieged I got a little paranoic. Yes, I think it is very likely that he was got some cavalry training. Cavalry was loved in Polish army and even now there are some ceremonial units. Cavalry was connected with great Polish victories like in the battle at Vienna (1683), in the war with Soviet Union 1919/1920 and others. There was also the Polish cavalry traditions involved in American Revolution and in formation of US army. (look at Casimir Pulaski The Father of American Cavalry The Nazis hated Polish traditions and succesfully ridiculed them by fabricating a myth of Poles on horses charging against German tanks.

I wonder if there are any Islamic sects/groups that follow these "earlier interpretations," or for that matter, peaceful interpretations of the Koran. I've read that scholars, particularly Western scholars, are either despised or dismissed for their efforts at placing the Koran in a historical context, and that any Muslim scholar who makes the attempt risks ostracism, or worse.
