HANOI: Vietnam Saturday called on Israel to immediately withdraw its troops from Ramallah and other Palistinian cities and immediately end its blockade of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.
"Vietnam strongly condemns Israel's military attack on Ramallah and other cities," said a Vietnamese spokesman.
"This action on the part of Israel, conducted right after the Arab Summit in Beirut had adopted a peace initiative to settle conflicts with Israel and right after President Yasser Arafat had declared a ceasefire, threatens to destroy the peace process," he added.
He called on both parties to exercise restraint, end violence and resume negotiations.
Vietnam recognises Palestinian statehood and the Palestine Liberation Organisation maintains an embassy in Hanoi.
Vietnam established diplomatic ties with the Jewish state in 1993. The two countries signed a trade agreement in 2001.
Like they did when the US pulled out?
How many people did the north murder after we left?
One thing Ive learned most certainly is that if Vietnam is against you, youre doing the right thing.
The only thing the Palis understand is fear. Its time for Israel to introduce them to the seventh level of hell. It really says something about a group when even their arab brothers wont let them immigrate.
Owl _ Eagle
Guns before butter.
Kind of like the Pol POT carring the kettre brack.
Well, by all means since the mighty nation of Vietnam says so, Israel will just have to ignore them as well.
I have noticed Vietnam does not seem nearly as important when we quit paying attention to them. Still, I feel bad for the ones we had to leave behind after '75, very bad actually.
