Do YOU have a better idea or are you just going to criticize mine?

The best legit way to ensure you stay put is to accept state or federal funds for improvements to your airport. Acceptance of them requires a 20 year operational guarantee. It does however lock you from selling the property should you need to. That is why I never went that route. It is also why I won't enter the CRP set aside program.

BTW, did you know that sheep are the only farm animal I have found so far who look up? Horses, cattle, etc... can't look up to see an airplane. But sure enough, when landing or departing, those little sheep all have their heads tilted back watching the airplane. Odd?

They also don't tear up a wet pasture/airstrip like cows do.

I know elk dont seem to give a rip, I've had to abort a landing because a herd decided they liked munching grass on my favorite mountain strip. We buzzed them twice and they still didn't move. UPS has my .338 WM enroute as we speak.

Are you raising your own livestock, or do you lease your land? I'm thining about leasing land out to local ranchers and farmers, since I plan to be working a normal 50+ hour/week job.

I would say that that is a "No, I don't have a better idea". BTW, the sales tax is the cost of the privelege of doing business. Taxes will always be necessary until the end of time.

That's about $18,000 per child. Yikes! And at 25 kids per classroom, that's about $450,000 per classroom

Whew that is outrageous. We live outside of Columbus, OH but our schools get figured against Columbus area schools. Interestingly enough, our schools are some of the best on the state tests(27 out of 27 requirements), but for the Columbus area they are one of the lowest per student and they are proud of that(that thier expense per student is low w/excellent results). Quite refreshing! All that aside though, we are homeschoolers. We've just been set on it and are impressed with what it has to offer our family beyond any local school accolades.
