Does that matter? There has to be a first time for everyone. After all, Ms. Hillary never held any elected office and you don't hear a peep from the press about that.
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. We are insane when it comes to electing our public officials. If we want new results, we need new people!
What's your position on abortion?
I can understand running for City Council or a County Office without experience. US Senate is a bit lofty for a first run. Even for Hillary.
I personally believe that abortion, at any stages of development is wrong. Medical science has developed to a point where it is more difficult to justify the position that abortions be peformed when it threatens "the health of the mother". Liberal proponents of abortion have tried to use that argument to include mental health, something that is very difficult to substantiate.
The late term abortion process, a.k.a. "Partial Birth Abortion" is nothing short of infanticide, as it requires the child to be born up to the head, then killed, and removed from the birth canal. There is truly no justification of this procedure, since a healthy child could otherwise be delivered completely.
My position is to support adoption. There are many families in this country that cannot conceive children and would dearly love to have children to nurture (my wife and I thought this was the case with us, it took us 9 years to conceive our son), but the prohibitive costs, red tape, and the fact that there are not enough children to go around, so to speak, causes many of them to remain childless. Encouraging adoption instead of abortion will serve these families.
I think holding previous policial offices should be a detracting feature for those running for office. I seem to recall that the Founding Fathers all EARNED their livings, outside the public dole, while taking time to serve their country, and people should have some real life experience before becoming representatives of the people in this Republic. Instead of these professional proponents of their own political power that we mistakenly call our representatives in government.
Heck, didn't Ben-the-lack-of-screen-presence Afflick (affleck? sp?) talk about possible running for political office when stumping for Hillary? What in the world would be his qualifications? I can't help but think that he, like Julia Roberts and Rosie O'Hypocrite, aren't independent thinkers, and just parrot what they know will fly in Hollywood, and they get further ahead in their careers because of it. I don't consume much popular culture, so if I am aware of these shennanigans, it must be pretty obvious.
Mr. Newman, I am a Virginia resident, and I appreciate and admire your effort here, and wish you the best. It makes me think there is some hope.
I would be curious about your position on abortion, or, at least your position on the sanctity of human life- whether pre-born, old, or disabled. Even if you didn't want try to overturn the abortion laws, but, for example, didn't sic your attorney general on the crisis pregnancy centers, that would be good thing. Just because the laws are on the books, doesn't mean women should use their freedom to take away that of their helpless child -- so if you facilitate efforts (or at least don't get in the way) for adoption, abstinence training (for those who keep their kids in public school), crisis pregnancy centers, that's a big step in the right direction -- changing hearts, instead of the law.
If you did, it wasn't a VA plate. This is what hangs on the front and back of my truck.
I haven't been to Alexandria since I got them.
