"Nice" to know some are presumed guilty, or, worse, the word peril has been slapped on theif foreheads like 666, simply because they treated, sought to heal, but did not do a perfect job. Those writters are not trying to help, they are trying to prosecute and destroy the rightful jurisdiction of parents. It is not a jurisprudent book that aims to teach children defense of their social contracts, it is a book that promotes their violations.

How can we expect parents to do the right thing within their contractual responsibilities when the first thing we do is threaten the existence of the contract itself. No freaking wonder parents become protective when a bunch of fascist sex goons are snooping around with their slobby disgusting hands threatening to take their children away or of slapping on them ignoble labels.

In my opinion such parents have good probable cause to defend themselves and their children from whomever may mention the word sex outside the parent-children scope of trust - especially since the publication of this book that gives them good cause to believe they were right. Obviously when a book title advocates irresponsible and naive contractual violations for/against children, or blames parents protecting those contractual responsibilities, this book advocates life of the jungle and denies parental jurisdiction altogether.

Here in Minnesota this is creating quite the talk - on radio, tv and even in the "red" Star Tribune. Thursday the University press announced:
"In response to national criticism of a soon-to-be released book about children's sexuality, the University of Minnesota on Thursday announced an external review of its publishing department.

The review will be conducted by a panel of experts from other academic and university presses during a two-month period, said Christine Maziar, a university vice president who oversees the University of Minnesota Press. She said the review will cover policies and procedures for acquiring, reviewing and developing books."

Something else I would like to add - since I am a Minnesota taxpayer:
The University Press is an independent auxiliary of the university. Its publication costs are paid mostly through sales revenue; funding from the University of Minnesota contributes less than 2 percent, or about $100,000, of its annual budget.

And if so inclined....please do your part to oppose this book:
Call the publisher at 612-627-1977 to complain. We also urge you to demand the resignation of the person responsible for approving this manuscript by contacting President Mark Yudof's office at 612-626-1616.

I obviously have not read the book, and I do believe in making sure you are fully educated before you make any accusations - but after reading the excerpts and Q and A with the author, I feel confident in stating that this woman is somewhat of a nut....but, as always, you be the judge!

You are obviously a rational, intelligent person since I have not stated support for adult-child sex...all I said was that the book is being attacked because of some disgusting comments the author has made, not because of the actual concepts contained WITHIN the book.

"...and at thirteen he knows all he needs to about women, like, stay away from them."

Poor fellow...though I would wager that if he is not homeschooled he knows more about women then you would think. I know I knew more then my parents thought I would ever know by the time I was twelve or thirteen...

I am sorry for having accused you on both counts if you meant neither...as for misquoting me it just appeared that I was making excuses for those who sleep with corpses when I was actually responding to an earlier remark by someone else.

Regardless, I have stayed far longer in this topic then I intended thanks to various people's responses...

Well, the effects of the FREEP on this book on the Minnesota newspaper site that ran the poll about "what to do about the book" are evident, but it seems that the gays and peds weighed in, too......view the latest results here:

Just moved to Minnesota, and find out my state tax dollars are paying for THIS. When can I go back to Texas?
