This is a story from a comic book you are operating on, and has no bearing on present-day science.

Comic book? I don't recall mentioning one. I hope you're not referring to the Bible.

I don't normally get involved in the Evolution/Creation debates, since those who believe in creation won't be swayed from their religious beliefs, and the evolutionists won't either.

Unlike many of the commenters here, I believe that God is infinitely more powerful and intelligent than any of us humans. Attempting to constrain Him to our limited 20th/21st century understanding of His creation is the epitome of arrogance.

Maybe there are lots of universes, and ours happens to be one whose laws allow for life.

This is compelling evidence? This?

You seem to have turned missing the point into a high art form. The anthropic argument you have presented is etherial fluff which in no manner competes with evolutionary theory in explaining what we want to understand about the fossils we see around us, even if it turns out to be true--it is not even on the same playing field. Just as the argument about windstorms not whopping up 707's doesn't preclude life evolving from natural causes, because, like the other argument, it is not hung upon evidence about which I can make calculations and draw conclusions. It is your opinion that life is unlikely, and that God created the heavens and earth. You are entitled to your opinion--and you may even be right, but trying to stack that up against what working micro-biologists believe and operate from is like trying to field a sparrow against a cannon.

Indeed it would be, fortunately, working micro-biological evolutionary theory attempts no such thing.

Abiogenesis is the foundation of natural evolution

False. "Natural evolution" deals with existing reproducing life forms. How those life forms ultimately came into being is outside the scope of evolution, and it does not even require purely naturalistic origins (ie, a divine entity zap-poofing the first life forms into existence would not count against evolution).

Evolution is the dork-stork story where babies-life come from!

I must say, you are in rare form in this discussion. I've not seen such compelling arguments against evolution and in favour of creationism. Keep it up and you'll win over a convert.

No, don't worry, I'm no creationist. All I was trying to say, in a rushed hurried manner, is that when creationists talk about all of the gaps, I point to all of the fossils we've found, and calmly mention that we've only dug in about 5% of all of the available land. Imagine what we'd find if we looked everywhere!

Found it!

Here's the previous discussion of pre-cellular speculations with the pointers apparently mostly intact. See Woese's last ref'd paper about creature annealing.

Oh, indeed. What point have I missed? Try to bear in mind that disagreeing with you is not the same thing as missing a point.

Am I supposed to give a ding-dong what someone who doesn't bother with those fussy rules of english grammar in communicating an argument thinks?
