Your plan puts Dems in ofc, mine doesn't. If you can't grasp the logic, I can believe it. Freep is full of people like you; and since it is, the conservative cause is doomed.....

Didn't you mean to say Republican cause? The end of conservatism in the GOP was when Dole would not even read the 'working within the system' grassroot platform.

What is the alternative? To divide the conservative vote among 2, 3, 4, 5, or more parties? What does that result in? We will either live under Dem rule or GOP. If you can't tell the difference between the two, then you are too intolerant to ever be satisfied, no matter what the GOP does. But it's wasted breath on you fringe artists. You get a self-righteous kick out of downing the GOP, and beating your breasts about what a good person you are and how you are so principled, etc, etc, etc. Meanwhile, millions of children are being aborted because the conservatives cannot unite behind one party and get something accomplished. I talking results, friend. You will never have the conservative gov't you want elected, so you will have to live with less that your perfect vision of how things should be done. The faster you grow up and accept the reality of the situation, the sooner you will actually accomplish something. I'm more conservative than you are, yet I realize that we can only go so far in an evil world. Again, it's either the Dems or the GOP. If it makes no diff which of the above two are in power, you fail to grasp the equation itself.....

OK so then why doesn't the GOP nominate conservatives who will read and implement the platform? RINOs are your problem not conservatives. But what did a GOP win give us - the economy has worsened on Bush's watch and foreign relations are in freefall.

Been in peril for some time now, too.

Buchanan is a tribalist savage that has a big problem with enlightenment and civility. Send him to a deserted island where savages belong.

Obviously you haven't read none of his works, otherwise you wouldn't be spewing the bile that's been programmed into you by the neo-cons and left-wingers.

That's because I know of one shinning example of his hypocrisy that speaks volume of this man's decency or lack thereof.

As an aid to Pres. Nixon, Buchanan vehemently argued against his plan to visit MLK's window on the anniversary of King's assassination, warning Nixon of the dire consequences of paying homage to “the most divisive man in America”. However as an aid to Pres. Reagan, Buchanan not only urged Reagan to visit Bitburg cemetery where many Schutzstaffeln were interred, but also crafted the statement in Reagan’s speech that depicted dead Nazis as “victims just as surely as the victims in the concentration camps."

Buchanan is not a vile racist savage? The earth is not flat?

Geographers remind us that the Western Hemisphere is divided into three Parts: Northernmost of these is Anglo-America. The English language is the basis of the culture of this region. Should Mexican and other immigrants from "middle-America" demand parity for their language, then they must undermind this basis. This would in turn undermind the politics of Anglo-America, since our governmental system depends on the historial and literary achievements of the past few hundred years.

I've never read something so asinine, so patently and blatantly untrue, and so nonsensical in a long, long time.

You talk as if you were FedEx'ed straight from McAuliffe's DNC!

The economy was headed toward recession under Clinton's watch. Foreign relations were no better under Clinton's watch, either.

Your placing this on Bush when it can be so easily proved that it's untrue says a lot about you. Behaving in this way, you are no good to either yourself or the conservative cause. In fact, behavior such as this is a cancer on our cause.

...the immigrants today who want to keep too much of the Old Word as a part of their new lives...

All immigrants want to keep the Old World. The society they immigrate to influences how much of it they keep. It is the responsibility of citizens to establish a common culture and common bonds. We must insist that certain things are American and must be known by all Americans. I suggest as a start that all citizens must:

(1) be able to speak, read, and write American English
(2) read the Declaration of Independence at least once a year
(3) read the Constitution at least once a year
(4) vote in every federal election (and ballots should have none-of-the-above as a choice)
(5) decide on a common history to be taught to all children

By common history, I do not mean a federal or even state enforced program. It would just exist. Congress (and the Department of Education) would be charged with keeping and maintaining it. It would serve as a reference point for all of us. It would be our collective memory of what has happenned to us that is important to us as a country. Historians and textbook writers would take the common history and write books and textbooks for schools.

...a ridiculous prediction ...

Any population prediction that looks solely to rate of population indicators is going to fail. It is no different than trying to predict the weather based on past indicators. Several things must be taken into account.

(1) Population density. As density increases so do disease and crime and war. Each of these will reduce growth. (2) Arable land and land productivity. Without food the population will not grow and both these affect food availability. (3) Medical progress. As population grows, death rates will increase and life spans will decrease unless medical advances keep pace with population. (4) Mobility. Some people will move to less populated regions or move to regions that can better support larger populations. Emigrants, if assimilated, will balance out population growth differences.

...We will either live under Dem rule or GOP...

We shouldn't have to live under the rule of either. There is an alternative. It isn't to take over the donkey or the elephant. It isn't to build a third party to defeat both. What we need is to pare back the overgrown federal government. The federal government should be more like a bonsai. Small. Beautiful. Strong. Simple. Limited.

Buchanan means they expected to leave the culture of the Old World behind and become a part of their new culture.

Yes, before the immigrants wanted to have a common language, they learned English quickly. Americans even had a reputation as being too monolingual because the tendency was to drop the foreign languages as soon as possible and become one people. It's different now at least with Mexicans who are often refusing to learn English, they aren't teaching it to their children ---it's not at all unusual to find them here after 20 years still unable to speak one sentence in English. If that laziness ends them on welfare, that doesn't seem to bother them.

ridiculous predictions

Yes ---actually predictions are hard to make. It's true that immigration is out of control but at the same time there are factors like HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases that will play a role in fertility of certain populations. I know along the border, the population of Mexican immigrants in high schools is having a chlamydia epidemic ----many of these kids are losing their fertility and won't be part of a future population boom. HIV infections are much higher in minority groups and will also affect their numbers in the future. Minority women also have more abortions which can limit their fertility.
