the indestructible sandwich. Industructible?-- may as well eat flavored cardboard and get the same nutrition.

the long-life sandwich will probably find its way into grocery stores. Why not let mikey try it?.... he likes everything.

Soldiers who tried the pepperoni and barbecue-chicken pocket sandwiches have found them "acceptable".
What, soldier?
Sir, they're acceptable, Sir!

designed to stay "fresh" for up to three years at 26 °C (about the temperature of a warm summer's day), or for six months at 38 °C
After the three years/six months, we give 'em to the USMC.

Soldiers who tried the pepperoni and barbecue-chicken pocket sandwiches have found them "acceptable". They are now planning to extend the menu to pocket pizzas, as well as cream-filled bagels, breakfast burritos and even peanut-butter sandwiches.
From my time in the military, I would expect these things to be labled something like this:
Sandwich, pocket, pepperoni filled.

The soldiers are in for a real treat. Peanut butter & humectant sandwiches are an old favorite around my house.

I bet they will. It makes sense. I wonder if there is still a little possible bacteria after irradiation and that's what the article refers to.

this way when I find a sandwich in a desk that is from a month ago I will know it is still fresh

/Gratuitous Python ref/ Let me guess the tomato will detect the oncoming impact and eject itself from the sandwich. We need safer food.

will they test it on the prisoners at X-ray first?

Should I even ask what developing an indestructible sandwich costs? Why am I afraid that these things are $750 per?

IOW's this is the military's version of a *hot pocket*.....do you still get the tiny bottle of tabasco sauce?
