I don't know what polls YOU are looking at. Where I am looking, with every new Arafat atrocity, the support for Israel is going up.

Your response is typical--and morally indefensible. It is one of the reasons Israel has lost so much of the world's sympathy. No matter how violent or unjust the Israeli response, people like you will defend it. The kids had every right to protest what they experienced as oppression. That they did so in a relatively peaceful way was treated with the same ferocity as might be used against adults using rifles. That was by any moral yardstick unjust and immoral. Nothing can excuse it.You are a funny clown. Just because you write "morally indefensible", you think it just makes it so??? I agree, they had every right to be there and demonstate peacefully. But have you seen the rocks they tried to carry??? Open your eyes. Some of their rocks are 5-10Lbs each and are able to smash a head in a single bound! Other rocks look remarkably like AK47s. Yet other rocks look like semi-automatic pistols. And if you believe it was "relatively peaceful"... well, then I invite you to attend one of their rally's here in the States. I also propose you carry an israeli flag with you. What do you say to my challenge?
It is amazing how Pat Buchanan is writhing these days trying his best to twist what little dignity remains inside him to show that Israel is wrong. But alas, his ugly anti-Semitism is showing, and you know, he is quite a bit more clever than you. But I wish you luck.

Your bitterness is showing--nobody likes to be outreasoned. On your other point, regarding Arafat's leadership. It's not for Sharon and his supporters to decide who represents the Palestinian people. This is another example of Israeli bullying and arrogance.Yes, I admit, I am bitter. But outreasoned??? Bah. I will grant you that I am "out-lied". You, CNN, NPR... the list goes on twist the truth beyond recognition. You call that reason? Fine. Go ahead, reason away.
Here are some facts. By the accepted international laws, it IS up to Israel and Sharon as the duly elected representative do dictate who they will and who they will not speak to in the "occupied territories". You see, occupied or disputed, these territories were won with blood in self defense against unprovoked attack. So... since the Israelis are the lawful masters, they do get to say. You don't like it??? Sorry.

What Is Going On? What Happened to "Either You're With Us, or You're With the Terrorists"? I can tell you precisely what happened:
The Muslims have successfully outmaneuvered the US by tying 'The Palestinian Problem' to 'The War on Terror'.

Sounds to me like what they tried to do during the Gulf War. Saddam DESPERATELY tried to get the ARABS united in their Hatred of Israel. Well... you'd think that by now the US would know how to deal with a one trick pony.

Saddam DESPERATELY tried to get the ARABS united in their Hatred of Israel. Well... you'd think that by now the US would know how to deal with a one trick pony. Yep, but that was before 10 years of the Oslo Accord that weakened Israel to the point that the Arabs think they can take them--along with 10 years of Palestinian Authority propaganda to convince the 'Arab street' that they can, in fact, take them.
By tacitly allowing Arafat et al to tie the 'War on Terror' to the 'Palestinian Problem, Bush Administration 2.0 has completely blown it.
I don't see any way to recover the initiative.
It's looking pretty hopeless to my way of thinking.... Our only chance short of all out war is major concessions and aid to Arab nations. We have neither the will nor the means to fight an all out war.
Expect the capitulations to continue....

That was by any moral yardstick unjust and immoral. Nothing can excuse it. Kinda like paying families to have their teenagers (male or female) strap a bomb to their bodies and go out to pizzerias to kill women and children, then celebrating their 'heroism'.

I hope not... I have another idea...
What if... this was all a massive deception by the bushies... and they are actually going to attack Saudi Arabia???? Wouldn't that be fun??? Just level the place, take over the oil fields and then let them know that they are lying SOB's, that they are false friends, that we have all the documentation needed to tie them to both 911 and Arafat... Let's see what the Arab world does then?
FReeze the SA assets around the world, and then take out Iran. Viola... new world order!

I hope NOT!!! That might be painful!
But I agree with you... my post was only wishful thinking. Although it IS a brilliant strategy, if I say so myself!!!

The logic expressed by some, is that Bush has prevented Sharon from fighting terrorism. Last I checked, Sharon was still occupying the areas that he wanted and the US has done zip to back up the words that Bush used- no sanctions, no summoning home of ambassadors, etc. Bush was never serious about restraining Sharon, because if he wanted to, he could have. If Bush truly wanted to hold back Sharon, today's capture of Marwan, would not have happened. Colin Powell is maneuvering to have a summit-with just foreign ministers and no leaders-effectively marginalizing Arafat and enabling the second tier of Palestinian leaders to step up. This may be the beginning of the end for Arafat- I'm sure that any exodus of Arafat will be contingent on him publicly passing the torch to the new contingent of Palestinian leaders- a bloodless coup. The onus will be on the moderate leaders in Palestine to conform or be relegated to more UN sponsored camps.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.
Benjamin FranklinI cannot prove or disprove if Franklin said or wrote this.
However I can confirm that this IS included in Psychology and Psychiatry, as one of the definitions of insanity. Maybe that makes Franklin the father of doctoring to the mind?
