BRAVO! You have said some things that have been on my mind for quite some time.

It is quite clear Bush made a tremendous mistake in choosing Colin Powell as Secretary of State. The guy is about as effective as Madeline Albrong. What makes matters worse is just when Israel has finally grabbed the bull by the horns and is taking measures to end the terrorist measures in their country, Powell comes in...to talk. The man is so freaking boneheaded he actually believes playing nicey-nice with a bloodthirsty monster like Arafat and asking Sharon to back off is going to make things better out there!

The time for talk passed many moons ago, dammit!

Let Israel finish the job, as Sharon has been asking Powell and the US.

Let's get serious about the war on terror.

Let's get Bin Laden, Arafat, Hussein, and Quaddafi, in that order, and wack 'em. Today!

Actually, Feenian, I think that my statements on the middle east are actually assigning a level of complexity beyond the real situation on the ground. In hard reality, we have just one issue: Islam's attempt to turn the definition of "terrorism" around to theirs over the one which we here in the US have. To them, any method of killing an infidel is acceptable - military target or not. We are all targets to them, regardless of our profession or standing in society. To them, that is all that matters. To kill us all for our unwillingness to accept their version of God.

Imagine having the Jehova's show up at your door one day, but instead of trying to give you a Watchtower magazine, they decide that you aren't one of them after all and kill you and your family. And since their religious instructors (call them what you will) are the government in the Islamic world, the fact that they had to kill you is quite acceptable - if not praiseworthy. Welcome to life in Islam. Praise Allah - or die. That's the mindset of our enemy in the middle east. And just like the good old days of the "domino theory", if we fail to let Israel defend themselves with whatever level of violence is necessary today, the tactics and terror of the Muslim enemy will only spread here as well - because if it worked against the Israelis (whom the Arabs respect and fear as warriors), they know it will work against the soft Americans. If not the IDF now, then who later?

This is the true jihad for the Muslims. That is why I stated that until our leaders within the western civilizations - and especially our President - finally discover their spinal columns, we can't afford to wait for the cavalry to come riding over the hill to save us. Until this nation finds a true leader who embodies all the good qualities that America was founded upon - and I really had hopes that GWB was this man - our nation will continue to be the target of every spoiled wannabe emperor all over the world. Until we get a leader that is willing to lead by example, whose intentions are honest and true without any wavering ar vacillation, the world will be in a state of war. Whoever this man turns out to be will indeed become the defacto ruler of earth.

If I had to vote right now on who I think that man may be from the current crop of politicans and leaders, my choice would be the President. President Vladimir Putin, I'm sorry to say. Think about that before you flame me out of hand.
