There's a movie coming out in a few months about this very thing: "Minority Report".

Big brother is on its way. Watch til we hear that we need behaviour robotic monitoring cameras everywhere "For the children" And let's not forget to program the system to pay especially close attention to those "face-ID"ed as one of those disfavoured by whatever administration is currently in power.

I think it will go the "for the children" route first. They will set these up first in parks, schools, playgrounds, and have them detect behaviour of pedophiles. Then it will expand.
I predict businesses will go next. They will get the computers to analyze when employees are slacking off, when it appears the phone call they are on is personal, their expressions while looking at their monitors, etc...
Once the genie is out of the bottle, it is over. Now that it is possible to predict behaviour, big business, big government, big brother will be all over it like white on rice.

Maybe we could place these in Congress to alert taxpayers over the Internet when they are about to do something undonsitutional.

My greatest fear is that it will work. We will be alot "safer" if it does. They will get behaviour ticks from any type of criminal who is about to commit an act, and really crack down on the amounts of crime. It will expand.
We will hear, "If you aren't doing anything wrong, you shouldn't be alarmed"
I wonder if people with weapons with them give off behavioural signs that computer software could detect. It doesn't just have to be criminal behaviour.
Soon, they will have enough processor data to "read our minds" at work. The computer notices that our left eyebrow is scrunched up at 27.4 degrees, the blush on our forehead turned 2 shades darker... 94 times in a row, that happened just before we... Went to the bathroom, used the phone, were contemplating sneaking off early, etc... etc...

As a rabid PKD fan, I'm cautiously optimistic.

What the hell is PKD?
To: TomServo
Man, that is disturbing.
I can solve the murder rate myself. Everybody, arm yourselves!

Philip K. Dick. The author of the short story, "The Minority Report."

Phillip K Dick, a paranoid science fiction writer.

"Minority Report", a movie about a "Pre-Crimes Unit", will be very interesting.

Grazie. Thought you meant old Pat-boy, till I checked and found out his middle initial was "J". All Google would spit out was Polycystic Kidney Disease.

And what happens when the hackers get a hold of this technology?
To: dogbyte12
Prior restraint. These incredible morons are actually going to try it. God help us all.

And what happens when the hackers get a hold of this technology? See Post 5. My point being, I'm a lot more comfortable with the technology in the hands of hackers than freedom butchers.

Probably start eliminating people they either dislike personally or stand in their way towards some acheivement, without leaving their fingerprints. Cyberterrorism, in other words.
