I didn't know that was Johnny Cash either - and don't know why his face is so red. I know an elderly man who was having several sking cancer lesions on his face treated by some kind of treatment that turned his face totally red also - as part of the effect of whatever they were doing to basically cleanse off his top layers of skin to get rid of the skin cancers. It worked too. Now his skin is as soft and smooth as a baby's skin! I hope that's all this is - and not something more serious. Either way, Johnny Cash looks very moved to be greeted this way by the President. What an honor for him and what a delight that our President has such eyes of respect and compassion for each of these people - especially Mr. Cash. Look even at Kirk Douglas gazing up at our President (and I used to think Kirk Douglas was pretty tall.....). But Kirk Douglas looks positively joyous to be able to shake this President's hand and receive this award from him. (Hey, you think some of that positive respect for this President could rub off on some of the Hollywierd eltists?....probably too much to hope for...but you never know).

Picture 45--love the way YoYo and Condi are both so into the music. I bet she knocked his socks off. Wish I had cable so that I could see this. Thanks so much for all these great pics, mtngrl!

As much as algore sweats, if he would have been out there like GW, he would have been frozen solid...

Not only does he waste water, he doesn't mind riding around in his big Suburban either. Then there is his stance on population control -- of course that's for other people since he and Tipper already more than reproduced themselves.

I just saw it on their top and bottom of the hour news updates. It wasn't very long.
I would love to see the whole event! Our older son is a cellist, and Yo Yo Ma is his hero.
I'd love to tape it.
If anyone knows if it will be on, could you give me a ping??

Thanks for taking on the pix duty tonight, mtngrl. We sure appreciate it.
Oh, and Condi! Remarkable! And Dubya proved his intelligence once AGAIN by choosing her.

People in Pics -- from post 3 and beginning part of 12
- Judith Jamison, artistic director, choreographer and dancer
- Robert Coles, a child psychologist, researcher and professor of psychiatry
- painter Helen Frankenthaler
- Jose Cisneros, an historical illustrator
- writer Rudolfo Anaya
- author Tom Wolfe
- Yo-Yo Ma & Condoleezza Rice
- singer and songwriter Johnny Cash
- Yo-Yo Ma (again)
- Johnny Cash (again)
- & actor Kirk Douglas
No mention of why Jhohnny Cash's face is so red, but as some other's have said...it could be a side-effect of radiation treatment... a man from our church who is being treated for a brain tumor has the same sort of discoloration on one side of his face

I saw it at the end of Britt's show on Fox. That little segment he does after
he gets rid of Juan and all the other "pundits".

WHAT A DOSE!!! Sheesh...and I am late to the party. I just LOVE our president. The pic with the ax on his shoulder and his huge smile is to DIE FOR!!! And Condi played with YO-YO Man. Is this administration cool or what?
I was touched by the picture with Kirk Douglas. I am sure Kirk's a liberal but I know he is touched by W's support of Israel. No Democrat could give support like that. Just take a look at Jimmy Carter's op-ed. What a moron. And AL GORE? Who the h*ll cares? What a drone. Blah, blah, blah....
W is absolutely adorable in the snow.
