Too bad my aid to Israel package sent on April 15th wasn't voluntary.

Write your Congressman, Senator, and the White House. They can fix that.

This thread is about WAYS TO HELP ISRAEL. Your attempt to hijack the discussion by sliming Jews is duly noted

Defeating Lieberman helps Israel. Helps America too. Or do you disagree? Do you think we should, as Lieberman does, not reduce our imports of oil? Do you think we should continue to send millions to Saddam rather than use the oil in our own country? Do you believe we should not exploit our own natural resources?

And how is pointing out Jewish Senators voting records "sliming" Jews?

If some are ashamed of how Lieberman, Schumer and others vote, that is not my problem. Take it up with them.

If some are ashamed of how Lieberman, Schumer...

I'll write letters of protest to them, you write to all the others. That should keep you busy for a while. Do something constructive instead of whining all the time, Mr. Lied.

The precise amount is $2.7 billion. Of this money 1.8 billion is military aid which must be spent in the US and the rest is economic aid

I ashamed of how my Senator, Peter Fitzgerald voted. He's a Roman Catholic. So is Ted Kennedy, and they voted the same way.

IMO, there is no significance to that, just thought it was info you could use on a Catholic thread.

Foreign Aid Bill Passes Overwhelmingly

The US Senate overwhelmingly passed the fiscal year 2002 Foreign Operations Appropriations bill by a vote of 96-2. The Senate version of the foreign aid bill, is similar to the version passed earlier this year in the House. It contains $2.04 billion in military aid and $720 million in economic aid for Israel, as well as important provisions which enable Israel to maximize the benefits of the aid such as payment of the money in a lump sum at the beginning of the fiscal year.

$2.7 billion for Israel, and a 96 to 2. And GWB wants to increase foreign aid. It is clearly unpopular.

Now's when you say congress is bought and paid for by AIPAC and the aid to Egypt is to protect Israel.

I do and will hit all liberals. I think killing ANWR borders on treason. Are there any Jewish members of Congress who are for ANWR? Any who fight the green lobby? Any who take the lead in fighting to allow America to develop our own resources? I know Catholics in congress are split. Are Jews? Some must oppose the green agenda. If you can find any names, they should get credit for being on the right side. I'll be the first to pump up threads where they are mentioned.

The Jewish Dems (lots more) voted against drilling, The Jewish R voted for drilling. It was largely a party line vote. You really keep track of all the Senators by religion? I'm curious why you'd do that.

Fitzgerald is a R by the way.

I have no problem with defeating politicians whose views I oppose. But if you identify only those with "Jewish-sounding" last names, then you are being selective and your selection is not based on opposing their views, but on opposing them as (seemingly) Jewish. It is bigotry.

I don't disagree with Larry that the people he mentioned should be defeated....but I would target more people than these.

Keep contributing that, Ashley...and increase it.

BTW, where do you get these figures. The congressional budget says 3 billion, not 5. And, as you know, it is in America's interest that we provide Israel with this aid since the overwhelming majority of it is spent in the US providing jobs for our citizens. Plus, it gives us a stick with which to beat up on the Jews whenever they decide that they should defend themselves.

This is an Israeli/Jewish thread.

No, Larry, this is a thread about helping Israel. Jews have nothing to do with it. You see, there are people of other religions who want to help Israel as well.

Lieberman was the one who stood up and said he would filibuster ANWR. Because of their faith had Lieberman or any of the others I cited stood up and said we need to drill in America to ensure our security and the security of Israel, the bill would have passed in one minute.

You're full of it, Larry. What makes you think the bill would have passed if one of these people had supported it? What proof is there? What about all the non-Jews who were against it?

Since when did Free Republic become a politically correct zone? Your attacks are what I expect on a liberal forum, not Free Republic.

A liberal forum would tolerate your attacks on Jews. Actually, you are acting like a liberal since you refuse, deliberately, to admit that you were wrong to mention only the politicians with "Jewish sounding" last names.

I sincerely believe...

Of that, I'm sure. And you probably believe that all the senators who opposed the bill should be defeated. Why you only identified the ones with "Jewish sounding" last names is what has caused people to identify you as a bigot. Do you think you could have done better?

As I recall, Free Republic was set up to advance the cause of conservatism, restore a constitutional republic, not to fund raise for Israel and defend very liberal Senators by calling those who oppose them names.

Well, advancing the cause of conservatism is not limited to America, is it, Larry? We can advance the cause by promoting a strong Israeli right-wing, can't we? And nice try to deflect criticism away from the fact that those "very liberal Senators" you criticized all had "Jewish sounding" last names, Larry.

Next time you have a point to make, make the point about ALL the politicians who support a bill, not just those who appear Jewish. That way, you'll eliminate a lot of criticism from your fellow freepers. Wouldn't that be nice?

No I don't. It came up during ANWR because of Lieberman's filibuster threat. I can't understand why any Jew would not want us to be less dependent on Saudi and Iraqi oil. Lieberman, Boxer, Schumer and Feingold could easily overcome the rest of the Democrats who were against it. Play the Israel card and it would be a done deal.

Who are the Jewish members of Congress ,R or D, who fight the whacko environmentalists? They should get more attention.

Btw...if one was inclined to play the sewer politics liberals do, the make-up of the US Senate is a perfect target. Blacks make up around 14% of the population voted 91% for Gore and have zero representation in the body while Jews voted 80% for Gore and have several representatives...doesn't seem "fair" does it? The most loyal Democrats around get dissed...sounds racist to me.

If the topic of this thread was school choice, cutting taxes or upholding the second amendment, one might make that charge. There would be no reason to single out Jews. But this thread is about Jews and Israel. Drilling in ANWR does relate to Israel. The money we send to Saddam for oil directly affects Israelis. The fact that we are so dependent on Arab oil limits America from acting in the best interest of Israel. In that context, it is germane to mention that Jewish members of congress overwhelming opposing America exploiting our own national resources.

Except to the Identity Politics crowd. To the Jesse Jackson types who think opposing AA is racist, the GLSEN types who think not wanting kids to go on scouting trips with gays is homophobic and the Israel crowd on FR who thinks mentioning that Jewish members of congress oppose trying to free America from foreign oil is bigoted.

Don't like to be reminded of how Lieberman and others vote? Simple solution: Kick them out of office. Don't rag on me for pointing out what everyone knows.
