That isnt our govt as a whole... Each of these instances were an attempt my a few trying to abuse the powers America has. the power we have has and will be abused, its the populations job to prevent it from happening.... Our population isnt pro - empire, its pro freedom and if that means helping out some guerillas in Paraguay, then so be it... I dont recall Rome sending in a peace negotiator into the middle east to resolve the plight of the locals like the American "the empire" has....

Thanks for the rundown. I think some other posters pointed to more recent 'empires' as more short lived. History has speeded up - faster communication? faster travel? faster living?

Failure to reproduce may the the suicide belt of our Empire, without outside challengers.
