Just tell me one thing...........What have we really done to restrain the Israeli's? I know that the Clinton admin. threatened Israel with financial sanctions, but what have we done under Bush? what?.......................(besides a few words intended for Arab consumption for use by Arab allies to attempt to calm ruffled feathers.)

It is not anywhere near what they wanted or expected. We are actually thumbing our nose at them without really saying it.This is a total policy reversal from the clintonian diplomatic efforts.

Nice selective reporting -- leaving out a key detail. If they were dressed as Israeli soldiers, isn't that a hanging offense if caught by the Israelis? (Let alone murdering or conspiring to murder?)

Good point

Prior to the recent Intifada I was leaning to the position that Israel should compromise and give the Arabs in Judea and Samarai their own government. I am now coming to the conclusion that all the Moslem Arabs must be expelled from the land of Israel before there will be peace and security for Jews and Christians.

You make a good point but the Bush Administration would do better to state the U.S. position with honor and clarity. The Islamic States will never love nor trust us. They will fear our strength and resolve. After September 11th that is all that counts. They should fear our wrath so much that they will cooperate with us and never attack (or harbor those who would try) again.

I think we should all be ashamed, a five year old girl has died, the same age as my daughter also a jew. She wasn't throwing stones at soldiers she had no explosive belt she was not caught in a crossfire, she was murdered in cold blood maybe reading a book or watching a video.....what kind of people could do this. 'This is a true massacre in my book.'

IS NOT!!! You know only PALESTINIANS are allowed to be "massacred."

Israeli innocents do NOT have the world's (especially the EUN's) PERMISSION to be merit that distinction! </SARCASM>

Egyptians heed Amnesty call for silent demonstration over Mideast deaths

April 27, 2002, 04:00 PM

CAIRO, April (AFP) - Around 200 Egyptians demonstrated in silence in Cairo to mark a day of mourning for the civilian victims of Palestinian-Israeli violence, an AFP correspondent said.

The activists, members of the local branch of Amnesty International and the Egyptian Popular Committee of Support for the Intifada, assembled for around 30 minutes in front of the American University in Cairo.

They carried Palestinian flags and black flags, as well as signs calling for diplomatic relations with Israel to be severed. They also asked the United States to end their support for the Jewish state.

On Friday, London-based Amnesty International called for two international days of mourning, beginning Saturday, for the civilian victims of the violence. According to Amnesty, at least 1,200 adults and 240 children have been killed on the Palestinian side, and 260 adults and 52 children on the Israeli side since the beginning of the Palestinian uprising September 28, 2000."

SOURCE

...Since no Amnesty International chapters teamed up with anyone in Israel for ANYTHING, we may safely assume the above mentioned "civilians" are only "civilians" if the are "Palestinian".

Are you saying that we should not believe what Bush says because he really does not mean it?

I subscribe to this policy. We are not yet ready to back it up, however.

We are resting our soldiers now and preparing for more actions.

This is a last attempt at diplomacy in the middle east and it has my blessings. I believe we have indeed made it clear that we are preparing for larger war if necessary.

Prior to the recent Intifada I was leaning to the position that Israel should
compromise and give the Arabs in Judea and Samarai their own government.

The week before 9-11, I was talking to one of my cousins about how tired I was
of all the time "wasted" on the evening news about the endless Israeli-Palestinian imbroglio.

I'd gotten so tired of it, I was simply bored.

No more. I'm not saying Israel is always on the side of the angels, but as far as
I'm concerned, they are about in the same spot as England in the late 1930s: alone against
a horde of enemies (Palestinians and all their supporting cast).

I feel sorry for the individual Palestinians caught up in the conflict...but after 50 years
and leaders like Arafat, I've come to think that maybe they have the leadership that they deserve.

As one statesmand (approximately) said:
"They never miss a chance to miss a chance."

Many of the settlers were attending Sabbath prayers in the synagogue when the attack began.

This is no coincidence. The Muslims' hatred of Jews means they not only don't avoid attacking them on religious holidays and in religious places, but they purposely use Jew's religious holidays and gathering places against them.

And the Muslims don't accidentally kill women and children. If they are Jews, they are targets for the Muslims. Sick bastards.

You raise a straw-man arguement. Every time the President of the United States says: "Israel should withdraw peacefully now." And when he says the "only path to peace is through negotiation between the parties" He restrains the Israeli freedom of action and manuever. Israel can only respond to provocation at this point -- by definition that means that there must first be an atrocity to respond to. They cannot any longer take pre-emptive action (as in Jenin) against terrorist strongholds and the society (the population around them) that supports them. They now can only "hunt down the perpetrators". The President's words mean things. They impact Israel because that country does seem to care about "world opinion" and they very much care about the U.S. government's position.

So, yes, he has taken actions that have restrained Israel. No, he hasn't set troops to occupy the country, threatened them with air-strikes if they don't withdraw, or other more dramatic proclomations, but he has "leashed the dog" with his words and publicly stated positions.

I don't know if in the great overall picture of the world situation he is right in this or wrong in it. It just should be realized that whatever he's working toward, in this particular case that goal is being purchased with the lives of Israeli civilians. We all just better be real clear about that.

I hear you. I'm not ashamed. I'm angry. I want to expel the terrorists and their supporters from the land of Israel. Do it town by town, village by village. For every terrorist attack, expel the inhabitants of the village, town, or city from whence the terrorists operated. If there are any Arabs who will stand and fight the terrorists, they must do so now or share their fate. There is no room on the fence. I see no other alternative.

Yep, it's time to send that three-person U.N. committee to investigate this massacre.

According to the photo shown above, the committee apparently consists of Yoko Ono's grandma and the pleasurable Doublemint Twins.

This crack team will undoubtedly find that, indeed, the victims are dead and the rest of the family will have a humungous cleaning bill.

He is and has been saying two things at once.(this is what is confusing you) He says that the peace process should resart(Israel should withdraw) and at the same time he says we will back them up to the hilt! Israel will not be crushed!(If any Arab country is thinking about getting involved militarily, we will stomp on them)

I really don't see what is confusing about that.

We are allowing Israel to finish it's sweeps and retaliate when hit. So what are we doing to restrain them? HUH!

BS! They are still doing exactly that as intel becomes available.

And Sharon has complained? You are watching political gamesmanship. Nothing more. Sharon and the U.S. are not working at cross purposes.
