I second that motion! Do I hear a third?
Edwards reminds me of another power seeker, as was that peanut shucker, Jimmy Carter.
Have you forgotten Willian Jefferson Davis Clinton???
While there is no doubt in my mind that you are more politically knowledgeable than I am,I think you are wrong about this, wrong about Edwards, and wrong about Bubbette!.
First off, presidential candidates have always picked running mates for the precise reason that the VP could help the presidential candidate win the election. Lots of times they hated each other, like with JFK and LBJ.
To carry on with this theme,I am sticking with my prediction that Bubbette! WILL run in 2004,and she will pick Colon Powell for her running mate. Most people seem to have been fooled into believing that Powell is a "moderate Republican",and he would be seen as a stabilizing influence on Bubbette! He will bring her the votes she couldn't get any other way, including votes from a shocking number of brain-dead Republicans. The Bubbette!/Powell ticket can't be beaten by anything the Republicans can put up against them. Bubba-2 will probably pick Rudy Guiliani as his running mate in a effort to win the electoral college in NY and the rest of the NE,but I don't think even that will be good enough.
As for Edwards,I really ain't worried about him. He was on the ABC screaming face show today, and not only did he seem to stutter and be unsure of himself, but something seems to have happened to his "presidential hair". Instead of JFK,it looked like Glen Campbell. Glen Campbell can't get elected.
Nope,Bubbette! is letting Edwards,Goober,Lieberman, and the others run around now to draw all the early heat away from her,but she will step up to the plate at the last minute,as the front runners are suddenly hit with "surprise" scandals and have to step down.
I am sure that even scum would not associate themselves with DemocRATS!
Forgotten??? Heavens knows I have tried, that SOB just wont go away.
Had the media been honest, we would have known that Slick's actual profession was "slippin' around."
So, it's not like we can count on the mainstream media to tell America that Edwards is a trial lawyer. Dan Rather might refer to Edwards as "an advocate for poor chil'run."
We have our very own viper in the governor's mansion here in Georgia in the person of Roy Barnes. He is slick as a greased eel, and has the bite of a cobra. He's making presidential noises as I speak. Be careful folks, be very careful. A no more deadly politician will not be found outside the bodies of the Clintons.
Unfortunately, there is a certain amount of logic in that statement.
BTW, has a first term senator ever been elected President? I don't think so...
Edwards' support slips in latest Elon University Poll
Edwards' support slips in latest Elon University Poll
Less than half of North Carolinians approve of the job U.S. Senator John Edwards is doing on Capitol Hill, while a majority of citizens are paying little attention to the upcoming Senate race to replace Jesse Helms.
Those are among the findings of a new Elon University Poll, conducted
April 15-18 by the Elon Institute for Politics and Public Affairs. The poll sampled the opinions of 648 adults in the state and has a margin of error of ± 3.9 percent.
Only 43 percent of North Carolinians approve of the job Edwards is doing in the Senate, down significantly from a February Elon Poll which measured his approval rating at 53 percent, and an October Elon Poll which gave him a 57 percent approval rating. Enthusiasm was also low for a potential White House bid by Edwards, with just 41 percent of citizens indicating their support.
"The lack of support Edwards is receiving in his home state for a possible presidential nomination is somewhat surprising," says Sharon Spray, assistant professor of political science and director of the Elon University Poll. "But Edwards has not received a lot of publicity at home for his accomplishments in Washington. He has received a great deal of attention recently indicating he spends a lot of time outside Washington. People may think that he is not spending enough time doing what they expect him to do as a senator," says Spray.
Was afraid to hit the button twice for fear it would post twice and make me seem dumber than I am. So, with tears in my eyes, I wandered off into the sunset, pleading for help.
On the subject of lawyers as politicians, in the abstract it might be a good idea. But when the lawyer in question is one who had his ethics surgically removed at birth, it is a very, VERY bad idea. On that point, Edwards is on the Clinton (him AND her) end of the scale.
