Then again, maybe not. Either way, that's seeming to get old.

In his address Wednesday, which appeared aimed at forestalling new Israeli reprisals, Arafat also asked for help rebuilding his security forces so they could carry out his orders to fight terror.

"I call on the U.S. government, President Bush and the international community to provide the support and needed immunity for the Palestinian security forces, whose infrastructure has been destroyed by the Israeli occupation, so that it can carry out and implement their orders and their missions and duties to completely stop any terror attempt targeting Israeli civilians or Palestinian civilians," he said.

Arafat also asked that an international force be immediately sent to the region to establish peace.

Correct. Nothing, NOTHING, is as important to the long-term future of this nation as that particular issue. Give me a pol's position of that issue, and that's all I need to know. Everything else is near-irrelevant in the final analysis.

Time for a thread on possible conservative Republican alternatives in 2004. This really is the last straw.

The last item that you bolded is indeed an outrage. Karl Rove had best tell Bush that the base is getting restless, because it is, even if it's not showing up in the polls, yet. I, my conservative friend, and my conservative relatives are gradually beginning to believe Bush is another politician, not a resolute conservative leader. Our nation is in peril, and he's giving $200 billion in welfare to farmers who will vote to keep the Senate in Democrat hands. Pathetic.

A positive sign would be Yasser and a couple hundred thousand of his terrorist pals at room temperature.

You forgot his backing of Affirmative Action in the Adarand case (and trial balloons suggesting he's going to back it in the University of Michigan case)

Conservative friends (plural). Many of them are getting restless, thinking Bush has lost his grip.

If Bush persists in making these calls for Israel to not harm a hair on Hamas murdering terrorists, he will drive the 20% of Jews and large numbers of Christians to vote for someone else. Where is Rove?
