Sharon's strategy has worked brilliantly!
That's what happens when men of courage act.

Ok the Palies are devided and hopefully one of their crazies will accomplish what Israel refuses to do and that is take out arafat. Then he can go to hell where he belongs.

How true!
To: Joe Boucher
I guess Arafat will have to direct his murderous campaign against dissenting Palestinians.
To: Cincinatus' Wife
This is a huge story. The Palis are calling for Arafat to step down, and the Globe buries it on page 14? I can guarantee you that if it were Israelis calling for Sharon's head, this would have been front page, above the fold.

as Palestinians reassess the results of his leadership of their long, bloody uprising. Apparently you could send an Ape to Harvard, teach him to read the constitution, memorize the bible and teach it to dance the Samba before the Palestinians will figure out that following Yassar was a bad idea.

When I see these stories running in the Arab press, I'll put more stock in them.

This story is pure and simple BS, in my opinion. Arafat perfectly represents the Palestinians because he and they are one and the same; miserable, failed people who have nothing but one another and the bogus belief/dream that Israel will one day be Palestine and there will be no more Jews. Find me a Palestinian willing to challenge Arafat and I'll show you a dead man walking.

More like a dead man hanging upside down and certainly not walking.

returned from a decade of exile in Tunis under terms of the US-brokered Oslo agreement in 1993 between Israel and the Palestinians. Who was running the U.S. government when this brilliantly conceived plan was "brokered"?

What kind of state would the Palis have anyhow, even if a pristine one were handed to them on a silver platter?
They subscribe to a suffocating religion and politically they blindly follow corrupt, fanatical war lords who lead them to destruction.
Marlboro-smoking, unemployed, homeless men of working age mostly sit around all day in coffeehouses, surveying the wreckage around them and whining about their leaders and the evil western democracies. Cause and effect never crosses their minds.
Their solution to escape their crumbled world is apparently still more militancy and even civil war. They still hope to wipe Israel off the map. They expect the outside world to pay for the reconstruction of their infrastructure and lives. They wouldn't dream of grasping their own reins and cultivating the idea of a work ethic among themselves.
The idea of getting off their fat cans and actually performing physical labor to rebuild their shattered communities is alien. Let their women slaves and the rich U.S.A. take care of their future. They would rather be holy warriors, martyrs or incessant political chatterers.
They are bitter, unambitious, blind herd animals who follow false leaders and a false religion and then bleat incessantly about the consequences as they sit passively for hours amidst the wreckage surrounding their outdoor cafes.
Two more goat creams and pass the sugar, please.

A dozen other young men stand around smoking, listening, chorusing agreement when he says that the Palestinians should have elections, build strong leadership, and gain control of all the land of Israel, from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea.Just how is Yasser or any other Pali leader going to re-educate these brain-washed young idiots? It is more likely though, that this is just more bravado and BS. The Palis don't want another dose of the Israelis moving in.

When I see these stories running in the Arab press, I'll put more stock in them.Strictly for the West's consumption, I'll believe it when PA offices are being blown up by suicide bombers.

Who was running the U.S. government when this brilliantly conceived plan was "brokered"?Looking at the article, you'd have to come to the conclusion that the Boston Globe archives don't go back that far.

I can guarantee you that if it were Israelis calling for Sharon's head, this would have been front page, above the fold.No kidding!!
To: Yakboy
I guess it's sinking in.

When I see these stories running in the Arab press, I'll put more stock in them.Oh yes, their reporting is so much more accurate.
To: Slehn
Find me a Palestinian willing to challenge Arafat and I'll show you a dead man walking. If they know Bush isn't going to fawn all over Arafat, maybe they'll find their voices, dangerous as that will be.
