God made me a total sinner, I'm gonna embrace it. How irritating to hear such things.

You simply cannot be homosexual and Christian.

I wouldn't go that far.

A good question, which I'll pass along to arthurus.

Chastity: Never voluntarily having had sexual intercourse.
Outside of marriage, that is. All Christians are called to chastity (from the Latin castus, meaning pure).

``They are on a witch hunt,'' said a gay priest who says Mass for a group of gay Catholics called Dignity

With good reason:

On May 9, [1978] a gay rights ordinance is defeated in Wichita, Kansas. Dignity/Wichita, a chapter in formation headed by Martin Mendoza, joins forces with the Catholic Worker movement and asks Dignity national and regional to help fight the ordinance. Dignity/Chicago responds by printing 50,000 pamphlets. Region VI brings in a busload of volunteers to help leaflet Wichita churches the Sunday before the election. Dignity National Officers Madeline Ritchie and Carla Kaesbauer fly in along with Bud Guiles, National newsletter editor, and Jim Wolfe, Social Action Committee Chair. Sister Jeannine Gramick and Father Robert Nugent come from Washington DC and Father Paul Shanley arrives from Boston. Dignity/Los Angeles sends Father Jim Fleck and a check to pay for an ad in the Wichita paper the day before the election.(Dignity's History)

Shanley, of course, would later gain notoriety as a NAMBLA sympathizer and pederast himself.

Tayek said the church's position on homosexuality was spelled out clearly in a 1997 statement from the National Conference of Catholic Bishops called ``Always Our Children -- A Pastoral Message to Parents of Homosexual Children.''

This document was written by a small clique; the bishops as a whole were never consulted, and the NCCB was involved in name only. More details here.

The child sexual abuse scandal in the Catholic Church has put the issue of homosexuality in the spotlight.

As it should.

So you sin as much as you want and don't try to refrain from sin? Is that what you are saying?

There is evidently a problematic ambiguity with nomenclature concerning this issue, and it is being exploited by active homosexuals. Those Catholics with same-sex attractions who practice chastity do not call themselves "gay," choosing wisely not to identify themselves with the "gay rights movement" or "gay agenda."

the Church saying homosexuality is wrong and priests should not be identifying themselves with that lifestyle.

Well they're supposed to be chaste. Wouldn't think it would be appropriate to identify themselves with any sexual lifestyle. I don't care what all the fruits and nuts out in SanFran say, "gay" ain't a higher consciousness or nothin'... How can a priest identify himself as "gay"? Isn't he thus betraying his vows?

It would be just as foolish a statement as the one about being made gay. I was being sarcastic.

I think it is an outright lie to claim to be gay and claim not to have sex. Being gay is about having a totally cranked libido and those people don't go without.

``Gay priests have been carrying out the church's work for decades,'' said Marianne Duddy, executive director of Dignity USA, a national organization representing gay, lesbian and transgender Catholics.

Correction: some men who struggle with and who regularly overcome homosexual temptations have been carrying out the church's work for decades. Those who have given up the struggle to embrace and rationalize their temptations have no moral or spiritual authority and are priests in name only.

Good point. Perhaps another reason why the Catholics in Courage eschew calling themselves gay.

Perhaps a lot of these problems could be solved simply by allowing priests to marry:

A radiant Mrs. Pedofag gaily poses on her, ah, his, well, ITS happy day!

How do you know that? All the parents of abused teenage boys presumed the same

Pay attention. It is in the news that somebody knew. Bishops knew. Because of the New Modernist post VII attitudes it was seen as fair and enlightened to bring in the homosexuals.

Most of these misfits came through seminaries that have come under the control long ago of feminists who brought in the homosexual administrators who weeded out orthodox believers and recruited mental messes.

A major effect of the Modernist heresy and post VII fictionalising has been an explosion of bureaucracy. All the new offices and ministries have been heavily staffed by a group of people who were not already in society's workforce, i.e. women, and the most aggressive of them, the feminists predominate. As the Convents deconstructed the, nuns who dropped out as newly enlightened feminists gravitated into the bureaucracy or were brought in by naive bishops who wanted to be "modern" and at the same time wanted staff who were at least superficially connected with things Religious even if that connection is the rejection of those things.

And seminaries are administered by the bureaucrats.

As the Church cleans up the seminaries and re-reforms the liturgy and bit by bit suppresses the heresy, the priest "shortage" will be repaired and the bureaucracy will be curbed.

For anyone who just walked in, that was yendu bwam's question, not mine.
