The funny thing is that because of the publicity regarding this issue, people will see the picture for free. So many people buying the picture anyway just makes the rats look even worse.

If this isn't ridiculous what is?
The Pubbies have every right to sell a picture of the President doing his job!
The meanspiritedness of the RATs gets worse each day along with the hypocrisy.

Using the Lincoln bedroom for a rental, illegal coffees in the White House, fund raising in the Buddist temple, all of these things are A Okay because a RAT did them!
This is yet another non issue blown out of proportion by a helpful media.

They aren't even " selling " this photo. For a donation of $150 to the RNC, you get three pictures, and this is just one of the three. This is nothing new ! I have been sent photos of Ronald Reagan, sitting at his desk in the Oval Office, and Bush the elder, for donations; for crying out loud.

Gee, this is nowhere near on the same level as turning the White House into a Motel 6 .

I don't see anything in this picture regarding the WTC or the Pentagon.

Over-imaginative conspiratorial paranoid creativity of the Dems. No wonder they call to hang a child for pointing a finger. These people are truly sick sick sick, and they demonstrate their sickness, not in private, nor in public, but in freaking official terms and vigilante laws.

I thought about checking the National Archives for available photos.

Government photos (NASA, much of the National Archives, WPA depression era shots, etc) carry no copyright. Neither do government publications (which is why everybody and his brother put out a copy of the Starr Report). No copyright because the citizens own these works (why not, they paid for them).

I like the suggestion on the other thread -- let the DNC sell their own photos. I did feel the need to add one that was overlooked in the original suggestion.

I don't think the coffees were illegal. If I am wrong, let me know.

Im not saying illegal activity (bags of money being delivered) didn't happen at them. But I do not think that having a group of large contributors to the White House for 'coffee' with the president is illegal.

"If the democrats could raise 30 million selling a photo like this they would do it in a nanosecond."

Ain't it the truth? Gore should talk about campaign methods. At least the pic wasn't staged - no reservoirs were lowered to provide the proper environmental backdrop for a photo-op as was done for him.

The photos were released to the media for free. The media sold them to a distribution service. The RNC BOUGHT them from the distribution service. The AF1 photo is from the White House, the other two are from AP and Reuters.

By the way, last night Ollie North said he has footage of FDR announcing his re-election campaign in 1944 from the deck of an aircraft carrier.

I can't help but notice that many of the posts in response to this issue are excusing the behavior of the RNC by pointing out misbehaviors of the democrats with regard to the Lincoln Bedroom, Buddhist temple, coffees, etc. I suppose I'll have to go easy on my kid the next time he tells me what he did wrong is OK because all the other kids are doing it. Bottom line: Both parties agreed not to take political advantage of the 9/11 tragedy. This 9/11 photo is being sold for political gain plain and simple. I thought this administration was going to hold themselves to higher standard.

Congratulations! You found the photo that immediately came to my mind when I heard about the Dims complaints toward Bush. .....Great minds?

I'd love to see this one plastered all over the front pages of EVERY newspaper in the U.S. (Of course I'm delusional, LOL!)

Be sure to save the addy to a file somewhere- that picture perfectly illustrates the childish, rather spiteful nature of mr. bill's worshippers...

"While most pictures are worth a thousand words, a photo that seeks to capitalize on one of the most tragic moments in our nation's history is worth only one — disgraceful," Gore said.

One could also say that the photo captured the essence of the beginning of the American people's response to terroism, one that may go down in the anals of history as one of the most important responses in world history. The elimination of the rise of Islamic fundamentalism could ultimately prove to have saved mother earth from nuclear/biological/chemical disaster.

But since the money raised from the sale of the photo will not put money in the Rats coffers, it must be a bad thing, right Al?

Coffees at the White House that include wanted drug lords and Chi-Com military personal are beyond the pale.

Both parties agreed not to take political advantage of the 9/11 tragedy."

Like that would ever happen. Actually the dem's new strategy is to say that the campaign issues have nothing to do with the "war" and everything to do with domestic issues. National security may be a joke but I still count that as a domestic issue that was long overlooked by the previous administration (that considered all threats to be from extreme right wing racist gun owners even after the WTC was bombed).

I've seen countless photos of JFK sitting in the oval office or hunched over a table during the Cuban missle crisis. Have any of those images been used for a political purpose? They certainly were offered up to show that JFK was a serious man plotting/navigating the course of history through a critical time. Bush's response to the attacks on the country were the same thing (as everyone at least considered nuclear retaliation as a possible response).

The morning of the attacks, Jennings was saying that the country needed to be reassured at that time while he didn't know where the president was and that some presidents did this sort of thing well while others do not (dramatic pause).

I've heard the news reporting that all 3 photos were from 9/11. This is all overblown. The photos were offered up to show President Bush's resolve at key times during his presidency. I'd like to see a little more resolve on conservative domestic issues but do not have a problem with these photos.
