In some states it is Blockbuster's official policy to post such notices. In Connecticut theyt do not post any such stickers. Blockbuster specifically prohibits any ewmpolyee from carrying "any weapon." It is of note that they do however provide their employewes with box cutters so that they may easily open packages. It is apparently lost on them that box cutters caused more deaths in one incident than any firearm has ever done.

What I am proposing is that some attorney focus on the negligence of that policy that resulted in four deaths in this instance alone. Blockbuster has made its no weapons policy public and as such they have increased the chances of such incidents happening in their stores.

Stay well - Stay safe - Stay armed - Yorktown

Since Blockbuster does not allow concealed carry every one of the victim's next of kin should sue blockbuster for the negligence of that policy.

Spot on. By not allowing concealed carry Blockbuster should assume responsibility for their customers safety.

If while in their store you are forced to fire in defense, you'll face prosecution, no matter what.

I can live with that.

That would be entertaining. We all hear the lies about guns in the home being more likely to nail Aunt Betty than a perp, has anyone done any research on guns in the workplace?

I'm sure Blockbuster will get all the help they need from VPC, etc., would the NRA support a suit against them?

Thanks for the info.

The BlockBusters I frequent do not display a "30-06, No Concealed Carry" sign, therefore it's legal to carry your weapon inside (which I do). Perhaps you could start a write-in campaign to get the store policy changed in your state.

Another event where a CCW holder could have made a difference, and another reason to carry 24/7

That's in Texas for the people who aren't aware of what a 30-06 sign is. The sign was under the 30- designation because those are the tresspassing ordinances. The CCW tresspassing ordinance coincidently was given the number 30-06.

To the people in the other states, Blockbuster tried to put the no weapons signs on the Texas stores but efforts by the Texas State Rifle Association stopped that by organizing a boycott. The TSRA hasn't stopped their efforts to simplify the CCW law.

Does anyone know if BlockBuster carries life insurance on their employees?

I would imagine that they have some sort of benefits. Also some corporations will give something to the families just out of corporate "responsibility", I.E. please don't sue us. I'm a little curious what the relatives of the customers would get. I never heard of any survivor package for customers.

"If you do carry in a Blockbuster, your CCW permit doesn't apply.
If while in their store you are forced to fire in defense, you'll face prosecution, no matter what."

You sure about that? I recall that Blockbuster had a no-concealed-weapons policy several years ago, but that they had reversed this policy in the face of thousands of protests from outraged gunowners.

OTOH, I may just be a maroon...

Doesn't have to go down that way Florida Blockbuster Shooting, but if Blockbuster has that policy, they are culpable.

I think mutch might have been refering to the fact that many corporations have a life insurance policy on their employees, with the corporation as the beneficiary.

In which case, it would be counter-productive for the corp. to allow employees to be armed.

I was refering to the thread where companies are insuring the employees without their knowledge and the company listed as the beneficiary.
