I have not heard anyone mention that just last week one leading Dem, I think Sen. Bingaman, came out claiming the administration was making too big a deal of warnings such as the bridges in Ca., etc. Does anyone have a link to this recent story?

Here's a better question.

Think of all those warnings that Ashcroft has been sending out since 9/11 whenever we get even a hint of something going down. Then think of the liberal response to how all of that has been a waste of everyone's time. Think of all the criticism the whitehouse has received over these "false alarms" and then tell me:

If they give him such a hard time now... even after 9/11... what credibility can they possibly have when they claim that he should have warned us about the threat before 9/11 proved that it was real?

Hmmm....and I don't ordinarily take bragging rights (actually I do but that's another story) but I posted this observation on ANOTHER THREAD at 9:16 this morning, 20 minutes before your post. Here is what I posted on Reply #11 of that THREAD:

Silly. Since 1995 the CIA and FBI had known about the hijacking plans. In fact they were pretty sure in 1998 that the targets would include D.C. and New York.

It would have taken a single, inexpensive step in order to prevent the attacks: Arm pilots and flight crews and train them.

The typical government response to any crisis like this is to assume that everyone outside of government is stupid, unable to defend themselves, and should be stripped of their freedom in order to preserve safety.

This paradigm is damning for Bush and anyone else who has held the office with that belief system.

Yep, I said the same thing on another thread. Glad you posted it to its own thread maybe Rush, Hannity, etc. will pick it up. As someone else pointed out, some of the DUh's actually think the video tape is fake but then they are idiots. Bush had info the low-level hijackers didn't have.

This Massouwi (sp) was taking flying lessons but not landing lessons. If one of the hijackers had known that he (Massouwi) was going to be flying the plane after the pilots were killed, it might have given that hijacker pause.

I seriously wonder if all this is not just wagging the dog.

Maybe the administration is saying, "hey don't worry about Homeland security. We have all the tools we need. We had them all along. Your trillions of tax dollars for intelligence didn't go down the toilet after all. We are more alert now. Don't worry. Be happy."

Laz, your rebuke is excellent, but I've investigated crimes where the plan leaked out without the drone crooks doing the dirty work knowing the whole picture. Bank robberies done by gangs, for example. The street gangs would use pooh-butt wannabe's for the actual robberies, but keep those guys insulated from the overall strategies, surveillances, etc.

In this case, I am outraged that the left is making an issue of this, especially given Clinton's obscene lack of follow-up on all the info HE had. Again, I like your approach, but strictly speaking as the Devil's Advocate, it may have been possible for the plan to have leaked without all the low-level "pilots" knowing. At least one of the pilots on each plane had to know the targets, or the plan wouldn't have worked.
