Welcome mat's out for illegal aliensBring us your tired, your poor, your homicidal masses...

Again, I agree, but how do we go about changing it in a "peaceful" manner, or is there such a thing? You pose the question that no one wants to answer. I certainly want a peaceful solution, but that takes leadership. If we don't get it, I'm afraid for what might come.

I have a suggestion. We need to address the "demand" side of the equation. Specifically, we need to begin imposing very severe penalties against those who hire illegal aliens. The penalties should include asset forfeture. If it's good enough to use against some guy selling drugs, it's good enough to use against someone who is undermining our society by purposely violating our laws. Once we have a few VERY high profile arrests (with the offending executives being thrown into the very harshest jails available, with bail set in the tens of millions of dollars) the message will very quickly get out there. Soon employers will begin to be very, very careful to be very sure that they are hiring people who are here legally, and not illegals who broke the law to be here.

Whether you know it or not your open borders advocacy is in direct odds with any conservative beliefs you may have. No offense, but please don't offer me your interpretation of my beliefs or their consistency. You're free to disagree with me if you like, but don't patronize me.

So, how do we go about doing this? Do you prefer the German style of barbed wire and cement walls? Well, there is a difference. The Berlin wall was built to keep people in. We need a wall to keep people out.
What type of guns and ammunition do you propose we use to mow down these ruthless criminals? What about a .50 cal?
.50 caliber? Are you crazy. That's overkill and way too expensive. An AR-15 would do just as well and rounds aren't nearly as expensive.

The INS, instead of being the nations first line of defense, are co-conspiritors in a massive islamic invasion.
The Census says by 2010 there will be more muslims than Jews in this country, and over 70% of muslims here are recent immigrants. The INS opened a flood gate but nobody asked us if we wanted the USA to be more Islamic.
This branch of the Government does not represent the will of the people of the United States. It is out of control.
This invasion has got to stop or things will get a lot uglier than they already are.

In all seriousness, I'd hate to see it come down to a shoot-to-kill policy on border crossers, but I do think it wouldn't take but a day or two after announcing that policy that we would see it pay off. And if someone did happen to cross the border and, God-forbid, we did hit them with a sniper rifle, the border crossings would certainly diminish... and world opinion be damned.

You pose the question that no one wants to answer. If you don't mind, we can begin by shoving the charges of 'racist' & 'xenophobe' right back up the noses of the neocons, race baiters & academicians seeking to keep this debate out of view until the average US citizen can safely declare their own opinion without fear of being smeared.
Once this happens & our fearless leaders' survival instincts kick in I have no doubt which direction our immigration policy will take.

I have a feeling though, only a feeling, that our Federal government, and State governments, are making too much money off these workers, as well. I, also, liken it to our "drug war," which we will never win. As long as there is a large amount of money to be made, off of drugs, illegal workers, etc., by the government and others, the problem will never be solved. There is too much money and power involved, on both sides of the border.
I do, however, think you are right about fining those who hire the workers. We do have to start somewhere. But are we, as a nation, prepared for the results which may occur? I'm speaking about the economy being effected by the lack of the Mexican worker, of which I don't know whether to believe or not. This could hurt our country, economically, in a major way. Unfortunately, I am one of those who belive that we have too many people who would rather our government provide for them, than to do an honest days work.
Opinions? Factual statements from anyone?

When the islamic sleepers that are probably crossing the border from Mexico into the US right now, start killing Americans then and only then will you see the government get serious about protecting our so-called borders!
To: tdadams
Well, there is a difference. The Berlin wall was built to keep people in. We need a wall to keep people out. with a laundry shoot to flush out the dirt that's been piling up here for the past 9-1/5 years.

Mine the border. Pay $50 bounties to any citizen who turns in an illegal alien. Arrest and deport. Problem solved.

To: hang 'em
Let's round 'em up, while we're at it, and sew a Mexican eagle on their clothes, or perhaps put a tatoo on them, so that we can track them down and be able to identify them if they cross back over the border again. On the second time we catch them, we can put just shoot them, or perhaps hang them? Yeah??

Naw, it's not 34 billion. It's only about 23-24 billion, somewhere between a third and a quarter of the expenditures planned by our "legislators".
Don't you feel better all ready?
To: wingnuts'nbolts
Then again, our very effective current President may just win, without you. Yes, it is possible that Bush might win without WRhine's support. But will he win without the support of the anti-illegal immigration crowd, which the majority of democrats and republicans belong to?
I think not.

Re: your #50
I think you misunderstood my post. The "answer" I was stopping short of was the possibility of a violent uprising. If I was afraid of being labeled, I wouldn't be posting on these threads, would I?
As to the rest of your post, I agree with you 100%.

I think we should also convert to a completely electronic system of capital. Since the number one export to Mexico, not to mention Cuba as well, is the U.S. Dollar, we should immediately get rid of it and replace it with an electronic currency. This will guarantee that the Mexican worker can not be paid, therefore they will not come here anymore to try and work.
