I'm familiar with the line of reasoning-but - wouldn't it be ironic ( I guess that's the best word, considering the fact I'm trying to be a respectful of others' beliefs as possible -)if the Muslims and the Christians turned out to be the " Gog and Magog " of the Apocalypse ????

I'm not sure I follow your reasoning, can you clarify?

Phillip, that's rich.

I can understand the position of the average peace loving, trusting Christian person. Christians are typically very kind people, and I know they make for great friends and in-laws, etc... But Judaism and Christianity are Antithetical.

The very term "Judeo-Christian" is itself an oxymoron of Biblical proportions. As a group, the Jews think Christians are an annoying bunch of quacks, and will privately acknowledge as much, and publicly only back them when they want something from them...like, say, wanting them to send their sons to do battle against their enemies, or wanting them to villify others amongst the non-Jewish populous who say anything even remotely critical of Jews.

If you take the New Testament to be the word of God, and you believe what Paul had to say, the claim to being God's Chosen People was revised from being an exclusively Jewish birthright, and was given, instead, to those who believed that Jesus Christ was the Son of God and died for their Sins.

So, by Christian doctrine, then, technically, there are no more Jews, in the pre-Christian sense of the word.

I think the Christians have fallen under the spell of Multi-Culturalism. That is, all religions are okay, as long as they make a convincingly public show of being nice.

Just remember what Nixon and Billy Graham had to say about the matter.

The Truth Shall Make Us Free.

Actually, the originator of the phrase said, "The Truth shall make you free."
Do you know the context of the phrase?
HINT: It's not readily accepted by most people.
The originator referred to himself as "The Truth."
Care to venture a guess?

BTW - The Einsatzgruppen (or "Shooting Groups") did not run the camps in Eastern Europe. Sure some of them ended up serving as guards at camps, but their job was to follow each of the 4 army groups during Barbarossa and start lining Jews, communists, Ukraninians, Partisans, and any other troublesome person up to be shot.

Sorry about the link.

Here it is the entire chapter on Von Braun's Nazi history - it states that von Brown "did hold rank as an SS Officer" you will need Adobe Acrobat to read it.

Origins of Marshall Space Flight Center

Also a link to a Time magazine article about von Braun's past, including the fact that he was a Colonel in the SS:

There's little evidence Jewish voters will respond to the Republican embrace of Israel.

Nonsense. Jews may still register as Democrats, but they are going to be voting increasingly for Republicans. (I live in New York, where 83 percent of the electorate are registered Democrats, and most local elections are determined on Primary Day. Thus, I am a registered Democrat. If I lived in a city or county where the numbers were reversed, I would register as a Republican. I don't know how typical I am; I only vote for people I'm familiar with (and as a result, don't vote in some race), and who are clearly better than their opponents, regardless of party affiliation.)

Ukrainians, etc., acted as guards but the death camps were under the Einsatzgruppen's administration. Einsatzgruppen members also supervised the mobile killing units (that's what Einsatzgruppen means), but ordinary German soldiers and police officers were mostly the ones who pulled the trigger. In time this was seen to be inefficient, so they tried gassing Jews using truck exhaust, and finally built the death camps.

Not all camps were death camps, some were work camps, slave labor. Death would come sooner or later, but the inhabitants were worked to death.

Typical. Someone makes a statement concerning the sovereignity and the orchestration of events by God and the response is "You're a fundy nut." Please...

Thank you. Very interesting. Anyway, Von Braun accepted Himmler's "honorary" rank as a gift and because to do otherwise would incur his wrath. Von Braun was no more a Nazi than Harry Truman was a graduate of Oxford for accepting an "honorary" degree. Himmler arrested von Braun later and charged him with trying to sabotage the program.

*LOL* Because those in power never identify themselves...and that demonstrates exactly why there is bias in the mainstream press...you'll never hear "NOW, a liberal women's group." It's always "NOW, a women's group..."

I have no doubt that many became Nazis in order to advance, not because they believed in it.

On the other hand, after WWII was over, and the Cold War began, and the Soviets took over Eastern Europe, including East Germany, and West Germany became our ally, there was an incentive to look the other way. The NASA chapter I linked states that Von Braun's Nazi past was troubling. He ordered that slave laborers not look him in the face on penalty of being shot. So he used his power to kill people.

"We were only following orders" is unacceptable, morally. Many courageous men and women did not go along to get along. Those people suffered for their moral courage. Glossing over Von Braun's complicity is unjust to their memory.

}We support Israel because the Jews are God's chosen people and He tells us to.

Please provide a Bible quote which confirms what you are saying.

Near Memphis, a group of Christian activists recently raised more than $100,000 and presented a new ambulance to the Baron Hirsch synagogue, which arranged for it to be shipped to Israel.

Raising money to send a ambulance to Israel. Maybe the Christians are supporting Israel because it needs help. Maybe they support Israel because they ARE Christians.

There is something about the Israelis and how are conducting themselves that is truly touching and inspiring. As for the forces arrayed against them, well Arafat, the Saudi and European Left are despicable. That's probably the answer to Christian evangelical support.

}The Jewish people did not cease to be chosen,

A good post, but even that much is without substantiation.

Hillary Clinton kissed Arafat's wife, and still almost all the N.Y. Jews voted for her! The majority are too liberals/bordering on Communists to vote for Republicans. The Baptists will be dissapointed! Just ask the senior Bush; he made every effort to be loved by the left, and at the end was giving the finger!
