""This requirement is the death of social legislation in furtherance of economic development and revitalization," Freeman wrote." Guys, OUTSTANDING!!! Peace and love, George.

Bump!
An egregious example of this unconstitutional practice recently was visited upon us here in Minnesota, (violative of our the Minnesota Constitution, but since 'interpreted' into meaninglessness): Best Buy Co. is building its spiffy new world headquarters office complex on land owned by a major car dealer that refused to sell to them for its price. So they got the City of Richfield to exercise eminent domain and its condemnation powers to divest the previous owner (Wally McCarthy Oldsmobile, et al.) of their land for a pittance.
An absolutely amazing and brazen display of disregard for all rights and laws, by both the monied interests, and the courts who have prostrated themselves to them.

This very thing happens everyday in this country.

All those who care about restoring the Constitutional requirement that takings be for a public purpose, should consider giving support to Institute for Justice (IJ). They have won several cases, including one where the Trump interests were trying to throw an elderly woman out of her home in order to expand casino parking in Atlantic City.

If accepted, can you imagine how many friend of the court briefs will be filed asking SCOTUS to overturn? Every political subdivision across the country with enough money to hire a lawyer will be in on this.

Bump for the right of the common man to own his property, and not just lease it from the government.
The next logical step is to end the death tax!
