Well, yes. I'm a bitter, bitter person. I got this way from living through 8 years of bubba clinton and the liberal media. I find it interesting that the mayor of philly can stand in front of the naacp and say "The brothers and sisters are running this town now", and the liberal media doesn't so much as blink an eye. Yet if Fred Reed were to say the same thing it's right wing, sophomoric and racial. This seems to be your position. I agree Fred's writing is over the top sometimes, but take a good look at what is passing for rhetoric on our college campuses these days. Welcome to FR.
Your post was number 13, meaning you could have viewed 12 previous posts, max. It was probably less since it takes time to respond. Is that the basis from which you judge all people on this site, as you state, or is it an example of your "open mind" that you later boast of having?
None of this is important. Forget about it, ok? I already have.
Your post #25 was well said. And if you can live through clinton being your governor and not be bitter, who am I to criticize. Once again, welcome to FR, I'm sure you'll get along here just fine.
You seem an intelligent fellow so I have no desire to try to inform you but we do have a difference of opinion about this article and the responses to it. As to your above comment, I am sure you agree that what is art to some is not to others and the same with humor. I have some old Amos and Andy tapes and I thoroughly enjoy listening to them occassionally. Do I find them degrading to blacks? No. That is just the way things were back then. To try to hide that, as some black leaders and liberal PC types have tried to do, is downright foolish or, more correctly, an effort to make a subject so super sensitive as to make it taboo, driving a wedge deeper between the races so as to foment discontent. Did whites rebel against the depiction of ignorant whites in "Beverly Hillbillies" and "The Andy Griffith Show"? Some wonderful songs, stories, and folklore have been denied the general public because of this sensitivity towards blacks.
The point I was making about the number of posts was that you read 12 posts and immediately labeled and condemned the thousands of people who participate on this site daily. That is quite a Hasty Generalization.
I say we call a truce since we have thoroughly aired this subject and enjoy each others views about other matters.
