1)Tacitus or Suetonius would be a good place to start, although any good history of West. Civ. will do, Gibbons for example. Concerning Asia et al you will note that I did not qualify any statement here w/ Christianity for obvious reasons. An understanding of God and His laws has/is always available to people that seek Him out. This understanding will necessarily be filtered through the cultural heritage of the individual or society.

2) I think a more appropriate question is; have you proven that you exist to God?

Au contraire, your answer, such as it is, proves me right. Civil Marriage laws have important applications in our civil society and the states' reponsibilities cannot be abdicated, howevermuch you may wish it so.

Dreaming up a pie in the sky solution that has exactly 0% chance of actualization is standard libertarian obsfucation.

W/o a moral foundation you must aquiese (sp) to any and all relativistic demands, hence you cannot logically oppose gay marriage.
