Having cows in thw White House compound isn't exactly a novel idea, you know. We all suffered through eight years of the use of the White House as a barn....

I thought this was a STAND-OUT quote from the Chief Warrior of the Village:
"That guy surely we would have to kill him," Mr. Oltetia, the village's chief warrior, said of Osama bin Laden. "We as the Masai have ways to kill, just using a spear and bows and arrows."
When pressed about his tactics, Mr. Oltetia said: "He's a strong man so we couldn't do it directly. We would surround him in the bush."
Who here wouldn't pay for that video?
The whole story is here:

Keeping them on the White House lawn might be the best thing for them. Actually there is a precendent for that sort of thing.
Woodrow Wilson's sheep graze on the South Lawn, 1918.

Whoops, sorry for the repeat quote, but it's worth it!

And after the Masai are through with him Osama would be wrapped in pork fat and tossed off the top of the Empire State building into an unmarked casket below.

I found the story of the cows far more touching than the Saudi Prince's gift of $10M to NYC (which was thankfully rejected).

The measure of a gift is often the sacrifice that giver is willing to put forth I can but imagine what sending this token of good-will cost the Masai but they will surely be rewarded by a higher power for their generosity and well as being properly thanked by the American people.

How beautiful. In the late 60s, early 70s, I lived on the Western side of the Rift Valley, about 15 miles above Njoro [Near Nakuru] on the edge of the Masai Mara and worked extensively throughout the Mara.
And what a splendid, beautiful and noble people they are!
Asante sana, Washarafu Simba!

As I just posted on another thread ---
I just called the phone number in the article -- (Please call the U.S. State Department (Bureau of African Affairs, Chief of Bureau Walter H. Kansteiner 202-647-7371)
Apparently they've been getting a lot of calls. The secretary told me, the plan now is NOT to sell the cows. I told her, they ought to a have a big ceremony, and graze the cattle on the White House lawn.
Freepers, drop a dime, see if we can get the government to give the Masai's gift the respect it deserves. Grazing the cattle on the White House lawn -- or on the President's Texas ranch -- would be perfect.

Yes, excellent!
Gift of the Masai
Can we get Washington to back these guys with some air power and let them take over Africa?

Osama would be wrapped in pork fat and tossed off the top of the Empire State building into an unmarked casket below
and if you miss the casket, the next person in line gets a chance, right? It'll be like the line for David Matthews Band tix...
