Well, I hate to burst your bubble, but I've known "MsCynic" for over a year now. But regardless, "newbieness" has nothing to do with her asking a question on freep. There is no rule which states that you should register an ID and shut up for the first 6 months of membership.

Funny how when if someone may not agree with our viewpoints some of us run to their sign up date, as if it is suppose to mean something ominous if it is to recent. There are intelligent people out there that can contribute alot to this site, regardless of their sign up date. Debate is what make this place great, and if we all agreed there would be no debate.

Myself I tend to welcome New Freep Members, even when I disagree with them, but hey that's just me

If you find that "activism" isn't your cup of tea, lol. Try surfing thru the different Free Republic Topics

You might find some of them more enjoyable.

Nowhere did I attempt to squelch her right to voice her opinion. She may say anything she wishes, just as long as it is in accordance with JimRob's policies.

I sensed an air of disruptiveness in her post. Why should we impugn our sides' willingness to protest when the Left makes protest(s) their bread and butter? Also, since when are these commie pinkos NOT traitors? They protest and stand against everything this nation is about.

Yet this poster seeks "logic" in our efforts to combat our arch enemies?

Whatever...

I don't know about you, but I don't waste too much time on "logic" while engaged with the enemy, the haters of the United States.

Over a simple question from a "newbie"?? If you can't take a question for being a question fine, But what does this have to do with this Freepers membership sign-up date? You seemed more concerned by her "newbie date" than debating the question she brought forward. And that's was the point I am making in my last post.

Also, since when are these commie pinkos NOT traitors? They protest and stand against everything this nation is about.

LOL, I never said they weren't. In fact I don't believe McCynic said they were or were not either.

Yet this poster seeks "logic" in our efforts to combat our arch enemies?

No I believe "this poster" was asking why ppl were protesting in the same manner in which they thought was offensive when it was coming from the left, but that's my assumption, maybe you should debate this with her tomorrow when she comes back on, if of course her "Freeper Freshness date" isn't to new for you.

Good Evening all, It's getting late, maybe tommarrow....

For starters, if you're a graduate or a guest, just remember to stand up silently and "turn your back" while Bush gives his commencement address. It's that simple.

May of us have lamented that the media doesn't show much of Pres. Bush during the daytime hours. If they get wind of THIS, we can be assured the cameras will be there and it will be trumpeted on the nightly news. Frankly I hope if they do it, Pres. Bush MENTIONS them and makes the point that isn't it great we live in a country where everyone is allowed to publicly and peacefully express their feelings about their government. That would sure take the winds out of their little sails now wouldn't it?

Our President will handle any protest with grace, class and humor. Let the leftists turn their backs while Bush speaks about the virtues of this country and its people and the need to defend same. Boy, will they ever look bad! They will be saying, with their turned backs, "We don't think much of our country, we don't care to defend our lives and honor." Bush's popular support will soar, theirs will sink below the detectable range.
After that, I hope O'Reilly invites them on his show to explain their views to the American public. This ain't Vietnam revisted, as they believe, and the public has no sympathy for their views.

What would be a hoot; is if G. Bush were to say: "My
what bright and shiny faces we have here today! That is,
if they decided to 'moon' him! But seriously, if they
didn't 'moon' him, and just turned their backs on him,
the best thing may be to just ignore them; as they would
do to him. They will only embarrass themselves, and
their parents, and others.

"Ah yes--spring quarter 1970 on the Big Farm. Sunny skies, flowers in bloom, tear gas wafting across the Oval, while Columbus City Police backed by guardsmen were busting hippy *ss (mostly non OSU student). It never got better than that ( well maybe OSU 50 UM 14 in 1968) !"

Yhe good old days! Times have changed...

The camera does like to make a mountain out of a molehill. I remember the "riots" in Virginia Beach during Greekfest some 8 years ago. A friend of mine who was there said much the same thing "It was a little group of 30-40 people running up and down the strip smashing windows. Then the media got hold of it..."

As for these Turn Your Back protestors, I have the perfect solution for conservatives: come to Bush's speech armed with scotch tape and lots of pieces of paper with KICK ME! written on them...

Actually the guard was also at OSU, the news was made at Kent because that's where they got the order to fire from Governor Rhodes.

TICKETS: have/need a ticket? Email us

Go to the link in the original story and you can get a ticket or at least email them about tickets. Perhaps Ohioans should see if we can all get some from them. Hmmm.

We can pretend to be on their side.

I don't know about you, but I don't waste too much time on "logic" while engaged with the enemy, the haters of the United States.

rdb3, her logic was sound. (I'm neither a newbie nor a disruptor... we joined in the same month.) TheCause wrote (post 13), "When I was President of The Ohio State University College Republicans 1992 - 1994 we kicked Klintoon all over the place when he came to campus. (In fact the Klintoon campaign said they would never come back to Ohio State Univ. because of the poor reception)". The majority of FReepers posting here are decrying the Left's effort as immature, treasonous (post 13 again), and apparently even hope for gunshots from National Guardsmen (posts 8 & 14) ... yet few offer any such criticism for TheCause who proudly organized efforts to do more than just quietly turn a chair around. That's rather hypocritical. Her point is valid. Your reply of "whatever" and your dismissal of logic are intriguing, though. Obviously you don't care about being seen as a hypocrite, but many here do. We don't need to give the Left any more ammunition. (Of course, they rarely bother with Truth and facts, but let's not give them the opportunity for legitimacy!)

We should not adopt the Left's tactics, and we should worry about hypocrisy within our ranks. It's never easy being the Good Guys.

Gutless wimps. Back in the old days when protestors were real men we would have boycotted and staged a sit-in somewhere.

Instead these babies want their diploma's and don't want to spoil there graduation day. If they really felt so strong about these issues, turning one's back is a pretty mild jester.

Like: Many of you graduates will be willing to face the future and the new dangers even while some that stand beside you turn their backs on our attempts to secure a peacefull future.

Well yes in a way. But suppose your home is just a few feet
from the Denver fires. Forests managed by the EPA
would rather have them burn than clear cut fire-breaks.
They would rather have homes & forests destoyed
than have private mills use the lumber from clear cuts.

Of couse, even dumber is not even permitting the removal of
burnt trees. That would only remove more useless
combustible material.

Talk about junk science. In the long run, these EPA
greenies are more dangerous than al-quaeda(sp).

I'm not sure the downed trees from Hugo west of the
Charleston, SC area have been allowed to be removed.

If the OSU gradualation class is a typical class of 2002,
we're in a heap of trouble.
