First of all, you missed several of the points I made. Did you even read my entire reply?
Second, I think you are very confused about what is going on politically in this country and in the world right now.
And finally, we should attack the House of Saud first, then Saddam.
To: shuckmaster
Barf..Barf!! LOL!
To: Paul C. Jesup
Yes I read your reply and I understand the points you're making. I am not confused, my friend. I'm also concerned about government expansion and loss of our freedoms. Please try to show more respect for other Freepers. On the whole, we're a well-informed group of people.
To: defenderSD
I lose respect and therefore will not show respect for those who insult me.
It is your problem if you can't stand that.

Sorry to be slow to get back to you.

By the 50s, there were in effect four parties. Northern Dems, Southern Dems, Northern Whigs, Southern Whigs. Sectionalism. It's funny. In all our FR debates, we talk about slavery as a cause of the war. And others talk about tarriffs. Or the evil mercantilists. Or strict constructionists. Or old Justice Taney. We never even get around to old Nat Turner or old John Brown. But we don't often talk about sectionalism itself. We tend to view sectionalism as a secondary condition. Maybe we should look at it as a cause. Stephen Douglas couldn't get enough Democrat votes to win the election because of sectionalism. The South dug its own political grave before digging its military grave.
Just repeatin' it. *bump*

You're funny man. How old are you anyway? About sixteen?
To: defenderSD
Nope, I am older than that.

Add California to your list of lincoln/gore states.
...and, I'm quite aware of the connection. With rare exception, nearly all of the South bashers & lincoln lapdogs on this forum either come from in gore states or are turncoats who have admited they voted for him.
To: LRP
You seem to forget one important thing. In the mid 20th century political ideologies in both parties were reversed by its members.
Modern liberal/socialist democrats have more in common with the 'radical republicans' of the 19th century then they do with the democrats of that time.
So your entire statement is invalid.

Listen, first I did not mean to insult. I was just trying to point out the connection between today's liberal/socialist democrats with the 'radical republicans' of the 19th century more clearly.
Also you make some good points in both of your posts.

You're no "Southerner", Malcolm. Living in Atlanta and voting democrat doesn't make you a Southerner.

Your pals post pics of things called Lincoln and you counter with a pic of this little group of dope smoking queers called "Linkin park". Thanks for finally waking up and realizing how Lincoln is revered today: a handful of little imbeciles who wear Lincoln's trademark beard and misspell his name while smoking pot and voting for Al Gore.

Beautiful picture. I love this city. The Jefferson Memorial is my favorite, but I cried the first time I visited the Lincoln. Amazing place, Washington. For all the sleaze, you still can't walk through this town without remembering what America was originally all about.

Grow up, and while you're at it, please learn to read.....

I'm grown, son. I read your profile page which reads like what any Clintonite would have written. Do you have something else you'd like for me to read?
I'll repeat my assertion: you're not a Southerner. It doesn't matter if you were born somewhere in the South. If you support the NAACP/CPUSA/SPLC asault on US history and the politicians in Georgia who have joined it, then you're also no conservative.
