Is the Rev. Jessy hiding in the wings waiting to pounce on Home Depot to extort money as he dose with other large corp. that don't play the game according to his rules.

"We streamlined the federal regulations..."
Excellent! Then when folks make paper airplanes from them they'll fly farther!
'Ignore bureaucrats' bump.

Not if you are talking about food.
How does HD think this will get them out of obeying these laws? Methinks they need a better lawyer than the one who told them that this will get them out of the reach of federal anti-discrimination laws. It will only remove them from one element of them the agency which the civil rights pimpette formerly worked for. Am I wrong about this?

We're beginning to see the WHY of Home Depot's decision not to sell to the Feds. They don't want the federal mandates. Good. Now if we could just get the school districts and states to start doing the same. State and local governments are blackmailed with the money of their own tax payers. I'd love to see a school district say no to federal lunch program or title 9 money and tell the department of education to pound sand. And the next time the feds try to bully a state into changing it's laws or face losing hiway funds, I wish that the state would say, "Fine, we'll just deduct that amount from the federal gas taxes that you mandate us to collect for you."

There is a difference between the general laws on the books for every business and the contractual obligations the federal government imposes on companies who wish to do business with them. The contractual obligations are so far reaching and nebulous, Home Depot may well be concerned that, despite their best efforts, they could be raked over the coals.

You do business with the federal government and you have to prove compliance with a whole library of regulations and forests of paperwork. The federal view of criminal activity is so broad, a clerical error can get you imprisoned and fined.
I know people from several industries who have ended their dealings with the government for these reasons.

That's how I read it too. While it won't shield them from discrimination suits, it does free them from having to comply with federal affirmative action rules and paperwork that the EO lays out as a requirement for any company that does business with the federal government.
Disclamer: I am not a lawyer, I don't play one on TV, and I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Now if we could just get the school districts and states to start doing the same. State and local governments are blackmailed with the money of their own tax payers. And sometimes local governments do the blackmailing themselves. The City of Toronto will not allow non-union construction companies to bid on city jobs.

Affirmative action prevents discrimination and enables employers to cast a wide net to recruit qualified women and minorities into the workplaceIts tough being a white male looking for a job. This mindset says why.
Shouldn't the requirement be "to recruit qualified employees into the workplace"

Americans for a Fair Chance at what? Aw, shucks -- I want a fair chance to become an F-16 pilot. I mean just because I'm 45 years old, 40 pounds overweight, near-sighted in one eye, have high blood pressure and a heart arrythmia, slightly arthritic back and knees,... hell, who is the Air Force to tell me I can't fly one of their 50 million dollar toys?
