It amazes me how they could tell the fire was started deliberately unless they found an empty can of gasoline or something equally incriminating. It is very easy to accidentally start a fire in tinder-dry conditions, and such a fire can get out of control in seconds. That's why I didn't think there was anything intrinsically implausible about the burning-the-letter story. You could light the letter, attempt to drop it into a fire ring, only to have a gust of wind blow it outside the ring, and there you go.

"Wives are almost never reported as being verbally abusive."
But men know better. As Washington Irving said, "A woman's tongue is the only sharp-bladed instrument which grows keener with constant use."

True. My point, however, is that a woman's language is almost never characterized as verbal abuse.

The C-130A tanker's left wing broke off.It looked to me like both wings broke off.

This fire is still at 40% containment.
Winds are picking up, 40 mph gusts expected for the rest of the day.
Just reported that firefighters starting to lose morale.

Sorry to hear that. Seems the fire may reach some canyons and then the 'chimney effect' will really make this fire unmanageable.

I'm disgusted in disbelief that my own grandfather voted FOR female emancipation and gave them the franchise...gonna' dig up his remains and kick them into the creek. The down fall of this once great nation is his fault.

I was responding to the article with all the quotes from people saying she was such a good person. CNN has ignored the fact that this "good person" try to frame someone else first, then came up with the letter story, to garner feminist support and shift blame to her ex-husband and finally came out with the truth. I can't believe this is the first time, this broad has shifted blame to others.

President Bush is really responsible for this fire. Clearly this calls for congressional hearings and hand wringing NY Times editorials! LOL
