Twenty-nine years ago I was living in Jerusalem. In the middle of the Yom Kippur prayers, army trucks came rumbling through our very Orthodox neighborhood. Men boarded the trucks still wearing their kittels and prayer shawls. Others, not wanting to violate the sanctity of the holy day more than necessary, walked the 3 miles to the army base. The rabbis gave them permission to break their fast early if they were going into battle. It was the most frightening and awesome days of my life, until Sept. 11.

Seriously, the "SW" tail code indicates an aircraft from the 20th Fighter Wing, Shaw AFB, S.C., which traces it's lineage back to a WW-I Ballon unit. They flew P-39s, P-38s and P-51s (among others) in WW-II
American space shuttle Atlantis is carefully moved to launch pad 39B at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. NASA announced that free men and women would fly the shuttle on October 5 to deliver parts and supplies to the International Space Station, where free peoples cooperate in unfettered scientific investigations.
Meanwhile, after liberation from the terrorist Taliban and Osama bin-Ladin's Al-Qaeda thugs, Afghanistan advances into the Stone Age. Terrorists kept that nation and would take all other nations they control, back to historical primitive technology.
