Pakistan Pulls Senior Diplomatic Staff and Ambassador From Afghanistan

Pakistan News Service reported September 16 that Pakistan has pulled back its senior diplomatic staff from Kabul, including its ambassador Arif Ayub.
A senior Foriegn Office official stated the withdrawal was done for security purposes but that the embassy in Kabul would remain open.
This (report that the embassy was still open) has not been confirmed by other sources.

i saw the pakistani ambassador to the u.s. on cnn this morning. a woman (take that taliban!) who was eloquent in her statements of support for the u.s. and against terrorism by fundamentalists. she indicated that pakistan has been fighting this element for two decades and is in support of an international community to fight terrorism.
