***BUSH CALLS WAR ON TERRORISM A 'CRUSADE"**
Bush Statement
Posted on 09/16/2001 12:37:23 PM PDT by rumrunner
President George Bush referred to the unfolding campaign against terrorism as this "crusade." Such remarks are bound to cause many Islamic fundamentalist to question if the west is revitalizing the Crusades of the Middle Ages when hordes of Christians attemtpted to expel Muslims from the Holy Land.

...EL CID = Crusader BUSH...
To: rumrunner
Well, let's not risk being misunderstood. If "crusade" might offend sensibilities...let's be perfectly clear:
We are on a jihad against evil terrorists. How's that?

Yes, I was certain I was not the only one who cringed when I heard that "magic word" pass from his lips.
It is as if Satan himself is setting the world up for a gigantic bloodletting.

Bush is not Clinton. No need for a magnifying glass to observe the parsing and double meanings. Crusade in his context simly means a battle for justice. But then these terrorists interpret everything we say and do wrongly so what can we do but put them out of their insane misery.
To: YaYa123
Crusade, jihad, demand for unconditional surrender; what's the difference?

Did everyone see the helicopter he flew in on? Apparently the regular high profile helicopter that we are used to seeing complete with a staircase has been replaced for this crisis. The current Marine 1 appears to be a lower profile maybe Blackhawk helo.
I'm glad that all areas of security are bing looked at.

They'll be even more convinced when Jenna Bush re-emerges with St. Andrew's Cross tattooed on her forehead. Still, I agree, he shouldn't use the term again.

It's just a word. If they get upset, they got the same towel to get happy in.

That would stand to reason. All the symbolism up to this point suggests America's War against Muslim extremists to be a Holy War (against evil). Although, I can't say I've heard "Onward Christian Soliders" being played in churches around the country yet.
To: rumrunner
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
Forward into battle see His banners go!

Where's King Richard the Lionhearted? We need his ghost about now.Really? He lost. Oh, and he was a homosexual. Don't Freepers hate homosexuals?
To: rumrunner
They started the crusade, now we MUST finish it!!!!!!!!
To: TheQuestion
Most Freepers are not obsessed with homosexuals, as you apparently are.
