Unfortunately, I think much of this suddenly discovered patriotic fervor will be short-lived. I hate to say it, but I believe for many Americans, this whole thing is an unplesant diversion ... but a diversion all the same ... from the mundane tasks of everyday life. The spectacle of "flying the colors" adds flavor and variety to their life. But, I fear, they shall soon bore of this too ... and go back to their old ways of taking everything for granted.
