1,200 pounds of ammonia are missing.
To: Capitalist Pig
Sad to say but every standard industrial theft will be now viewed in a different light......
Stuff "falls off the truck" all the time in America....Organized crime is always looking for an opportunity......
Hey, that gives me an idea!!!! What we do under the new terrorism laws (which we give up freedom) is turn the heat up organized crime. Tell them that things will go back to normal once the domestic terrorism threat is over.....
Can I make you an offer you can't refuse????
LOL, let's send Tony, Sonny and the boys to "eliminate" the problem.........( must have seeen too much of the Soprano's)

1,200 pounds of ammonia are missing. Isn't that a component in meth production? I'd be looking at meth labs in the area.

That's too small a tank for terrorists. If the stuff was really stolen, it was for meth production. It's a small enough tank to be hidden, and ammonia commerce is monitored to discover drug makers.

Assuming that this is an industrial application, this is probably anhydrous ammonia. Although very harmful to wet membranes (eyes are very vulnerable), it is not under most conditions lethal. It is however a prime component in the production of meth-amphetamine. It is highly likely that a small operation meth lab has stolen the refrigerant.

Ammonia and bleach can be combined to produce mustard gas. Chlorine gas, I believe. Either would be nasty stuff.

Thanks for the formula:

"mustard gas."Someone whould also note a large amt. of missing chlorine. If they do make the stuff they'll need special compressors to put the stuff into tanks.

Don't be silly, I know this. Asama has all the videos of the show.
I wonder what his screen name is?

Ammonia and bleach can be combined to produce mustard gas. Also known as deadly clorine gas. It killed our school janitor when I was about 15.
A crop plane headed for Florida is still missing.
Man, it's a bitch to have to watch these people for just about any strange or possibly deadly thing that happens.

Thanks for the formula: Have you ever noticed that every bleach container says that it shouldn't be mixed with ammonia and vice versa? Would you be upset if I said that taking a match to gasoline causes an unpleasant chemical reaction, too?
Sometimes the worry over giving secrets to the enemy goes just a little bit too far.

Don't be silly, I know this. I apologize for jumping down your throat. Silly me for not realizing that you were actually making fun of the very people who are beginning to irritate me.

"It killed our school janitor "Mixing household ammonia and bleach makes mustard gas (chlorammine). It destroys the lungs quickly. That's why the labels on the bottles say not to do it.
The "chlorine" odor and burning eyes from pools are commonly thought to be due to too much chlorine added. It's really due to the presence of chlorammines, and not enough chlorine in the pool.

I got a snootfull of Chlorine gas last year - sent me to the hospital - my pool chlorine had degraded in the container and when I opened it (outside) it wafted into my face on an inhale - first you cough - In 20 minutes deep breathing hurts, In 40 minutes you sweat profusely and pass out - I would hate to see what happens when you get a full whiff of the stuff.

What kind of market is there for "hot" ammonia?

Phosgene is 'mustard' gas
Cl2C=O
Anybody who has taken organic chem lab can make it.
