Just saw reported on CNN 'ticker-tape' where Taliban forces are moving their artillery etc.. away from military bases.

I don't find this a good thing if we were hoping to get some of it before we engaged on the ground. Now we have to hunt for them.
Next question ARE we going to act. Now mind you, I like all the reports of us using opposition tribal leaders, king, and N. Alliance, but I think we can go ahead and take out all the air assets, tanks, artillery etc... before hand. At least we help the opposition.
Let's hurry up and kill some (aka a lot) of them.

If they're movin' 'em, we're seein' 'em.

I think our biggest weapons in our "war on terror" right now is our scathing rhetoric.

LOL. I know. I can't believe we are letting coalitions dictate our operation. Hey, if we can get in from Carriers and C-130's/C-17's can land on unprepared runways....we should move forward..and if they don't like it, put a cold shoulder to them. Especially Saudi Arabia. If that high tech command center is so good as to be unusable, then build one on a ship..
I share your frustration.

they can't really hide this stuff because all we have to do is bring in our metal-detector in the sky (i.e. JSTARS) to find it. Plus, if they are disbursing the artillery and tanks away from their military bases, that should make it much easier for our forces and Northern Alliance forces to advance and take control of strategic points in the country such as airbases.

The Vietnam era phrase "pitiful, helpless giant" comes to mind.

...and we've all heard the phrases before. "The older I get the less attention to what people say and more to what they do" - unknown
I keep seeing us backtracking more than anything else. If this was Gore, he'd be dead right now, but Bush has better relations with the 'hawks' (and I'm one), but my patience won't last forever.

If we would just set the whole rotten little country on fire (make the cinders dance), it won't matter where they hide nothin.

The main questions here are:
(1) The Taliban are moving equipment from point A to point B. Is point A near a well-inhabited area or not? If it is near such an area and we attempt to take the hardware out of commission what are the PR implications?
(2) Is point B more isolated from the general population - perhaps an important strategic point like a key road or a mountain pass? If so, it would be preferable to kill only soldiers in order to neutralize it.
(3) Can we track the hardware from point A to point B? If we can, then we should wait until they put it somewhere Taliban soldiers congregate.

Rename the DOD. Call it the DOHL. "Department of Harsh Language"

There couldn't possibly be any adverse consequences from letting our good "ally" take them out for us, would there?

Have to wait for the go ahead from our pan Arab and pan Islamic masters. Let us not read too much into deliberate and well-thought planning. GW Bush is not Jimmy Carter. He will act at an appropriate time.

Are they towing them with those red Toyota pickup trucks? That is their armor units. We are stuck with those big bulky M1A1s and they have these neet Toyota Tacoma pickups!

Your 1,2 & 3 are based on the assumption we are going to do something.....

A note to the crews doing the moving: You'll only die tired.

Whose the 'good ally' that could take them out?? Can't be the N. Alliance or they would have don't it by now.
To: vbmoneyspender
they can't really hide this stuff because all we have to do is bring in our metal-detector in the sky (i.e. JSTARS) to find it. I recall a number of posts on FR after the Kosovo bombing indicating that the Serbs were able to deceive our eyes in the sky pretty easily. I don't recall the details, though.

its my understanding that if one converts to islam before one's country is conquered by islam that our new arab/islamic masters will spare our lives. gosh, where'd i put that darn quoran
