For Californians interested in Proposition 8 (limiting marriage to one man and one woman) here is a link to their new website: http://www.protectmarriage.com/ A story told on KSFO radio in San Francisco this morning by Dr. Charlie Self says more about the importance of this Proposition than anything I can come up with. At a recent conference about Prop 8, someone told the story about a family whose 8-year-old daughter come home all excited and told her mother that girls would be able to to marry each other. The mother, a Catholic, told the girl why that was wrong. After...

Got a flyer this A.M. that reads: Father William Young will begin celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass on Sundays at 11:30am on March 2, 2008 at Holy Rosary Chapel in Marin. Take the Marinwood/St. Vincents Drive exit (Ramp 457) off Highway 101. At the stop sign turn right. Go East along St Vincents Drive toward the Bay rather than West toward Marinwood. You will see the Church about two-tenths of a mile down St Vincents Drive. Fr. Young met with Archbishop Niederauer and Fr Padazinski on Ash Wednesday to make final arrangements for the Traditional Latin Mass to be celebrated...

{The following analysis is provided by Phil Lawler, editor of the monthly magazine Catholic World Report and the online service Catholic World News (cwnews.com). Permission is granted in advance for reproduction and/or redistribution of this piece, as long as this paragraph is included.} Secular news outlets can be forgiven for missing the most important aspect of this week's meeting between US cardinals and Vatican officials. But will the US bishops themselves catch the message? Pope John Paul II summoned the American cardinals to Rome to discuss two scandals. One scandal involved the sexual abuse of children by Catholic priests. The...

This week the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights charged the World Association of Girl Scouts and Girl Guides (WAGGS) with promoting anti-Catholicism. The charges against the Girl Scouts stem from an email message sent by their UN representative promoting a job opening at "Catholics" for a Free Choice (CFFC), a pro-abortion lobbying group that has been repeatedly condemned by the Catholic Bishops. Long time UN activist Leslie Wright represents the Girl Scouts at the UN, which has official UN recognition as a non-governmental organization. At the UN Wright works with a coalition called the NGO Committee on the ...

COLOMBIA'S CATHOLIC BISHOPS TO EXCOMMUNICATE ABORTION PRACTITIONERS BOGOTA, July 19, 2001 (LSN.ca) - The Roman Catholic Church in Colombia has warned doctors, medical practitioners and judges who participate in procuring abortion that they may face excommunication. In a letter, released Wednesday, signed by all Colombian Catholic bishops, Columbians were called to practice conscientious objection and refuse to participate in the "abominable crime of abortion." "Believers can legally and conscientiously object with validity. That means that women, doctors and even judges can excuse themselves from participating in this type of crime, because their beliefs do not permit it," says the letter. ...

Dear Colleague, Today we report on some very good news out of Washington DC. Long-time Holy See negotiator John Klink is expected to be nominated for an important post in the US State Department. Klink has long supported and promoted authentic health care and development for the developing world, as opposed the relentless drumbeat for abortion. For this Klink has come under attack from the pro-abortion left. Spread the word. Yours sincerely, Austin Ruse President ____________________________________________________________ FRIDAY FAX May 25, 2001 Volume 4, Number 23 TOP NEGOTIATOR EXPECTED TO BE NAMED TO KEY US STATE DEPARTMENT POST It is being ...

In Cuba...the communists have not changed their spots. Religion - and this means the [Catholic] Church - is something they perceive as a threat because they cannot rule over people's thoughts or souls. No, not even after almost half a century. The degree of oppression fluctuates according to political expediency, however. During the papal visit three years ago they tried to put on a generous front - though without in any way easing up on their strict scrutiny of every movement by the priests and their visitors. For some months now the oppression has once again become harder, more rigid ...

Governmental delegates wildly cheered the first statement of the new Bush Administration to the United Nations yesterday morning. The speech also signaled a significant change in US UN policy. Ambassador Michael Southwick, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations, voiced strong administration support for the ongoing preparatory process for the upcoming Child Summit but criticized international progress international progress in childhood nutrition, education, and basic health care. Southwick, however, veered sharply from previous US policy on the question of parents and the family. Clinton Administration negotiators tended to fight mention of the family and were the leading forces against ...
