And to be memorialized on Free Republic! Ha! I imagine Roy would have gotten a kick out of that, too.

Politics aside (as they should be occasionally) Roy was indeed a jewel. He had a big heart, a huge brain, and an incredibly keen sense of humor. I still remember his early morning local radio show from years ago, “It’s My Nickel”.....what a hoot!

Don’t let the other responses get you down, Captain. Roy will indeed be missed by those who actually knew him.

I thought you had been suspended or banned OR worse. :>)

Hahaha! Nahhhh.....flying below the radar is my modus operandus.

I've just been sitting here pondering how "things got a little out of hand" can mean such different things to different people. In my world it usually means I might have spoken a bit more harshly than I intended.......I can't recall a single time when it meant, "Oops, I killed three people." ; )

Not that it really matters, but I'm wondering now about that reported early morning breakfast that Benny said he had with Michael. If ELH left home the night before and returned home "early the next morning" wet and shoeless, that doesn't leave much of a window for killing, transporting, hiding/burying, etc. Maybe LE intentionally publicized an erroneous timeline?

Anyway, thanks for the updates......it's good to see some closure on this one.

I am typing from my full tiime RV home right now, and listening to Fox news all via satellite

I'm doing the same. We've been fulltiming for about 3 years in a 36 ft. 5th wheel. All the comforts of home minus the yard work and home maintenance.......and we never have to put up with crappy weather! I honestly cannot recommend this lifestyle highly enough.

"13. Enter amount of cash required."

Since when is this a single step process? First you enter the amount you want......when that is rejected, you start entering lesser amounts. This could require several attempts. Of course, one must pause between each attempt to express appropriate shock and disappointment.

" Take a look at the faces of those soldiers again, especially the female soldiers. They look less like sadists than delinquents. They look like they're showing off at some wild party trying to impress everybody with how "cool" they are."

That is precisely how the photos struck me......particularly the "dangling cigarette/pointing at the genitals" photo. I got the impression of a female who was trying desperately (and inappropriately) to prove to herself and others that she is "one of the guys."

The author conveniently fails to define "playing." Just because you're not sitting at your mama's knee doesn't mean you're not learning anything.

"So admit it everybody. It's not about God at all. We wear fancy clothes to church to show off to each other."

If that is the reason one is dressing up, God knows it. On the other hand, if one is dressing up in a genuine effort to honor God on His holy day, He knows that too. I freely admit that I have been guilty of the former.......but going to church in ratty attire in a vain attempt to appear "righteous" is no better, IMO.

Thank you, WKB......the scripture does indeed make it clear that it is what's on the inside of a man that is important. It also makes it clear that outward appearances can be deceiving. Manipulating one's outward appearance in an attempt to appear more righteous does not fool God, whether it be dressing up or down. Remember what Jesus said about those who are fasting.......he made it clear that dressing down can also be a form of self-righteous deception. It all goes back to the one thing that we all seem to agree upon.......regardless of the outward appearance, it's what's in a person's heart that matters to God, and He's the only one who can see that.

I wholeheartedly agree. IMO, what is important is the personal effort put forth (i.e., what is coming from the person's heart.)

"Dressing up becomes a psychological problem with some......"

Yes, it does. I think that has been clearly demonstrated by some of the responses on this thread.

"As for those who say nice clothes are "uncomfortable" they most likely have brought the wrong size or a bad fit."

Perhaps......and perhaps that is because they have put little effort into finding a comfortable fit in clothes that they have a "psychological problem" with. Some people seem to actually revel in their alleged discomfort when wearing nice clothes.......they make no effort to be comfortable in them, psychologically or otherwise.

"I'm not sure......does this mean I have to give up my leisure suit?

No. A leisure suit qualifies as an outfit designed to conceal yourself from prey.......namely, women. Wear it and she'll never know you're there. Trust me.

I saw it and it sounds like a load of crap to me. Tell me, just what is it about "nice" clothes in particular that offend your enhanced tactile sensitivity? Acceptable attire for virtually any occasion can generally be found in a variety of styles and materials......if one cares to make the effort to look for them.

".....I don't think God really cares what we are wearing to church as long as it doesn't interfere with someone else's ability to worship."

Good point, mollynme. A church service is different from our private worship of God. We can worship God privately all week long in our bathrobes and sweatsuits. Church services, however, are public gatherings intended to minister to all in attendance. Those who take the firm stance that "God doesn't care what I wear" might consider applying that logic to other aspects of the church service. What if the priest or minister took the attitude "God doesn't care about me bothering to prepare a sermon......I'll just speak whatever comes to me at the time"? What if the choir took the attitude "God doesn't care if we bother to learn the words or the music......we'll just get up there and make a joyful noise"? What if the people in charge of maintenance and cleaning took the attitude "God doesn't care if the sanctuary is dirty and messy and the air conditioning doesn't work......those things have nothing to do with worship"?

While I think there are valid points on both sides of the proper dress issue, I think we would all do well to remember that public church services are a different form of worship than that which we do privately. Church services are intended to meet the needs of many, not just the needs of one. Just as we expect others to do things to enhance the experience for all of us, I think we should also consider how our own behavior impacts upon the group.

"All I said was that I don't really think God would be angry with someone because they didn't wear a suit. I stand by my assertion that God cares about what is in our hearts, not what we wear on our bodies."

I agree. However, I think that what we choose to wear on our bodies is often a direct reflection of what is in our hearts. If we do take care to dress up for social occasions, business meetings, etc., yet do not take care to do the same for worship, I think we should examine our motives closely. Is it really because we believe that God doesn't care, or is it because we don't care? Or is it an attempt at subtly putting others down because they do choose to dress up? As you say, God cares about what is in our hearts.......and He knows the real reasons behind our mode of dress.

"Call me crazy, but I'm much more certain that the Lord would rather see you at a church praising his resurection than showing off your new 3 piece armani."

You make an excellent point. While I do believe that one should "dress up" in accordance with the importance one places upon an occasion, I think there are limits. IMO, the point is to dress in such a way as to show respect for others and for the event. This precludes showcasing oneself in such a way that others will be made to feel uncomfortable with their own attire.
