He was 15 at the time he was brought into the woods to see the homeless man his friends had been beating. Even at that young age, he outweighed the victim, Michael Roberts, by 200 pounds when he jumped on his chest, crushing his...

SANTA MONICA, Calif. -- After ruling tentatively in favor of O.J. Simpson, a Santa Monica Superior Court judge on Tuesday took under submission Fred Goldman's request to have the former football star's right of publicity transferred to him. The father of Ronald Goldman, who was fatally stabbed alongside Simpson's ex-wife, wants the right of publicity to partially satisfy a wrongful death judgment against the onetime USC running back who went on to play for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. Judge Linda K. Lefkowitz tentatively rejected Goldman's request, but agreed to give Goldman's lawyer, Jonathan G. Polak, until Friday...

NEW YORK -- Henry Kissinger has been advising President Bush and Vice President Cheney about Iraq, telling them that "victory is the only meaningful exit strategy," author and journalist Bob Woodward said. The Washington Post editor's third book on the Bush administration, "State of Denial," comes out next week. In an interview airing Sunday night on CBS-TV's "60 Minutes," Woodward said that U.S. troops and their allies are being attacked, on average, every 15 minutes. Three Duke lacrosse players took five to 10 minutes to sexually assault a woman hired to perform as a stripper at a team party, and not the 30 minutes she originally described to investigators, a prosecutor said Friday. "When something happens to you that is really awful, it can seem like it takes place longer than it actually takes," District Attorney Mike Nifong said. Nifong's comments came as Superior Court Judge W. Osmond Smith III denied a defense request that prosecutors provide a detailed accounting of the alleged assault, including the exact time, place and type of sexual act the...

Jones's initial sample had tested positive for erythropoietin at the U.S. championships in Indianapolis in June. Had the second sample tested positive, the 30-year-old would have faced a two-year ban from the sport. "I am absolutely ecstatic," Jones said in a statement issued by her lawyer. "I have always maintained that I have never ever taken performance enhancing drugs, and I am pleased that a scientific process has now demonstrated that...
