  • Dog Deaths Surpass 100 Despite Toxic Pet Food Recall

I just want to say how terrible for the pets and their owners that this happened, but it is something we humans should watch out for too, as they say this is likely what affected those who were subsequently persecuted and put to death as witches in Salem, Massachusettes during the witch trials. I have read that there was probably a bad batch of aspergillis fungus that made the people act nutso, and they paid with their lives too.
As for whether or not there are non-corn based foods for our pets,we use Nutro Nuggets that we get either at Petsmart or at our local feed store, it has meat(lamb, beef or chicken) as the #1 ingredient, and they have both cat and dog dry food. We have three couch critters that love the Natural Choice variety. Our one cat, the supreme ruler of all animals within our home, will not eat anything other than Whiskas, so I let her have her way. Nutro is a little more expensive, but more than makes up for that in that the dogs have firmer waste products that are less frequent than with other foods(to put it in the most acceptable words), and really seem to get more nutritional value from it, as we have them(A red heeler, a pomchihuahua, and a terripoo) on free choice and they eat approximately a cup and a half between them daily. I would say they are really happy with it as they get no otherfood from the table scraps or anything.

I saw Michael Meehan on the Big Story With John Gibson a little while ago and he looked even worse than normal, unshaved and sneering ever more evilly than his regular demeanor, and John even commented upon his voice sounding tired and perhaps everyone was getting exhausted with all the running around to the up for grab states. All I gotta say is, if you can't even get up in the morning the day before the election you have been directing and shave and dress neatly, you have a serious problem, like Kerry and his "brand new with tags" Carhart jacket and sad little Red sox hat. Oh pity the poor candidates on election eve!

the total generated income of the relatively few new GM jobs will probably be closely equal to the huge number of wal-mart jobs created! As a former wally world employee, trust me, I am not kidding.

I have come to realize lately that any time a person starts a sentence with, "....The SAD thing about it is...." they are usually a dem too. It is a phenomenon that carries through any social group or stratus, it is truly strange the negative attitude that pervades the daily conciousness of a lib.

"Fear not, for wherever you go, there I am , also", I am sure that Franknlin Graham heeds these words of comfort that his Father has spoken to him and finds no need of body gaurds, his are invisible to the naked eye. For those that may wonder at his audacity for speaking out against the Islamic religion, remember, he is a true Christian and is doing what he knows is right in denouncing false gods. Islam religion is based on moon worshiping, not directed toward a divine being, rather a planet. May God bless and keep Franklin Graham safe, and may more people realize that a religion is not necessarily legitimate just because lots of people say it is, "Thou shalt not have any Gods before me" is what my God says, "Thou shalt not make unto me any graven image", he also says. That is part of the ten commandments, not the ten suggestions.

whatever else you all may think, a message was sent today by our President; he told those present that EVIL knows no holy days and that is why we choose to fight during their Ramadan. That is a very good thing for him to tell islamic people, and a very good thing to tell the rest of us that he doesn't really look at them as he does those of other faiths.

Been drinking bourbon this evening, trying to stop thinking about the sort of things this young person has posted. I am not destined for greatness and feel cursed to think too much like this person. Drinking may be the curse of the thinking class, but thinking may be the curse of the drinking class. Until we all pose these thoughts to ourselves, no question will be answered, and until we all realize that Robin Hood is not one of the good guys, {cuz stealing is wrong, no matter what}, we can justify a lot of bad actions. Keep on thinking this way, and keep on posting, you do us all a service in making us think about these things!

I am in total agreement with that! This is what I try to teach my teen, and that self respect is only possible when you learn to respect others and learn to respect laws and rules that are made for your own good, not for a reason of domination or subservience to a ruler. We are truly FREE here in this republic, and the only way this will continue is if we teach our children the responsibilities that go hand in hand with freedom, not how to sit on their increasingly large butts and whine about how the rest of the world has let them down and smugly think to themselves that that is everyone else's fault, not theirs.

At last, someone attempting to dis-abuse the long cherished notion that it is the job of public education to teach our children how to be hedonistic self-involved narccissists. What a break through in enlightened thought to realize that it is only warranted and perhaps necessary to praise a child when the child has accomplished something worth praising. Now can we please stop rewarding screwed up kids who throw daily temper tantrums and start rewarding kids who want to learn by actually teaching them?

like you , I spent many tense hours praying that W would take the election and explaining to my 16 year old what I was praying for, he then joined me and we both went to bed shortly after Gore's refusal to concede. I told my son as I went to bed not to worry, that no matter what happened, George W. Bush would end up as our president, and five weeks later, I was right!

that's what I am thinking, and the Feds should go over her finances for the past few years with a fine toothed comb to find the discrepencies in her reported income and her spending and then base all fines and penalties on the amount difference they find over and above reported income, she sold out, and never think for a moment that there aren't millions out there just like her with no loyalty, fealty, and allegiance who wouldn't do exactly the same; ferret them out and prosecute them, and the rest of us should remember that as long as we aren't doing anything wrong, we have nothing to fear over the new laws and regulations that are being enacted towards combating terrorism on our doorstep!

BTW, I just wanted to add that in fact my way back ancestors escape a life of serfdom (ie, slavery)to come to a country that didn't exist at the time, fought for what they believed in to form this great nation;America, and later divided themselves over an issue that held other people in positions no more noble than those which previously they had escaped. Some of them later formed a midwestern link to the underground railroad and helped numerous black people to become freedmen, and some of them continued their life of disillusionment on their plantations and eventually lost all that mattered to them because they made the wrong choices somewhere along the line. I am not a racist, I am a realist, and I know for myself what this country is all about and what will bring us down as a democracy. The dissent and divisiveness of certain clamouring whiners will do nothing to keep us strong. MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA AND LONG MAY THE FLAG WAVE OVER THE LAND OF THE FREE AND THE HOME OF THE BRAVE!

my education is as far removed from "post civil war confederate democratic spin" as it could possibly get and remain in the United States, my love of and study of the history of the united states knows know boundaries as long as it is well written and makes sense, my heritage is as mixed as it can get in one country removed from European influence for six hundred years, and thus I buy into no particular spin on facts, I believe in first hand accounts by people who lived experiences, and try to read well bibliograhed historical reference tomes. I would think that mosthalf educated Americans are certainly able to think for themselves and to determine for themselves, given a desire to learn, the facts and the fictions presented as history.

if that doesn't do it for you, try going to Golden Gate National cemetery and envision the number of people those plain white tombstones represent and think to yourself of the sacrifice of individuals concentrating on a common goal, which is to defend this mighty nation, and realize that we each play a role, but it takes someone special to lay their life on the line in the defense of freedom. I have been there twice in the past year, once to bury and once to reflect upon the actions of my brave forefathers, and I am truly humbled and grateful for the sacrifice given for my freedom.
