I said “arguably” in the context of this thread.
In reality, there really is no argument that this person’s gender confusion is indeed relevant. I’m assuming because they refer to this person as a “transgender man” that is an actual woman presenting as a man.
In that case, this person took vows under false pretenses, knowing that they were female but claiming to be male. They joined a male vocation knowing that they were not male. They knowingly deceived their order. This alone disqualifies them from continuing to participate in that order and vocation.
As I said, if they had never told anyone, and no one had ever discovered it, the church would have no obligation or ability to remedy it. In that case you could argue that transgenderism was irrelevant, but only in the context of there being no public scandal to correct.
But that also means that this person would have been living a life that they entered into under false circumstances, and that definitely is relevant to their eternal salvation.
In the Catholic Church, gender is absolutely relevant to almost everything. Men are priests and deacons and brothers. Women are nuns, or hold other non-ordained positions. This is integral to the Catholic church’s structure, and is unchangeable. On that, you would be wise to admit that you are mistaken.
Gender dysphoria is a psychological disease. Transgenderism does not even exist because you cannot change your sex. Knowingly allowing someone with a delusional disorder to persist in it, or worse even encouraging it, is not loving, or helpful, or Christian.
Best stop digging and hop out of this hole.
