Norm, I hope you understand that I am in no way trying to minimize the danger to our troops or the seriousness of this outbreak. It is, at least, some comfort to know that none of the family members who lived in the same apartment with Duncan (the American index patient) contracted the virus.

I don’t think it is practical to wear a full ebola suit while building a hospital away from infected patients. I would hope, at least, that there were contingencies in place for a worst case scenario.

"Containment last I read. think they are gonna be close to it to accomplish that mission?"

My understanding was that they would be moving supplies and building hospitals. How would they go about containing the outbreak?

"They don’t need suits. Ask phelix."

They do if they are working with dead bodies or infected people. What exactly is the mission there?

"Are you suggesting soldiers sent to ‘fight ebola” are doing so by remote control? If you ‘fight’ something to ‘contain’ something, you sorta gotta be pretty close to it. Doncha think? No, obviously you do not think."

What exactly is the mission there? If they are directly working with infected bodies or sick people - they absolutely need the correct gear.

I have been tracking this and studying the effects of this since July. I've also read "The Hot Zone" and every bit of information I can find about the virus. To say that a person "does not think" just because they don't agree with you is traditionally a liberal tactic. I don't find it helpful in this discussion.

"I have no idea why someone should wear a hazmat suit working amidst an ebola infected area around people of undetermined infection. It makes no sense!"

Are you suggesting that everyone inside these countries should be wearing these suits at all times? What about in Texas - should everyone there be wearing them as well? What about Ohio?

"Why would they be wearing full hazmat suits? The hazmat suits are only for when you are doing something that calls for you to put one on."

Exactly! Why would people expect them to wear a full hazmat suit to build hospital? That makes no sense. If they were working as doctors inside of a hospital with ebola patients - that would be a different matter altogether...but even the doctors working there now take off their hazmat suits when they leave those buildings.

“Pregnancy may result from rape. The rate varies between settings and depends particularly on the extent to which non-barrier contraceptives are being used. A study of adolescents in Ethiopia found that among those who reported being raped, 17% became pregnant after the rape,[3] a figure which is similar to the 15–18% reported by rape crisis centres in Mexico.[4][5]

A longitudinal study in the United States of over 4000 women followed for 3 years found that the national rape related pregnancy rate was 5.0% per rape among victims aged 12–45 years, producing over 32 000 pregnancies nationally among women from rape each year.[6]”

Thank you tcrlaf - I will see what I can find to read about that. I appreciate the correction.

Nonetheless, the claim he main was scientifically bogus and it did a lot to damage our cause.

You are right, Fishtalk - but I am still so angry about this.

Any women with the level of malnutrition and poor health as those in Nazi camps would have a difficult time conceiving if they even wanted to! Women stop having periods when they are that thin and malnourished.

‘Legitimate’ rape? This makes my blood boil. I do not support abortion at all - but this is the kind of thing said by people who are completely devoid of any shred of humanity or empathy for the suffering of others.

When I told my dear, 77 year old, conservative, mother what this jack@$$ said - it took her fifteen minutes to pick her jaw up from the floor. She doesn’t support abortion either and she was equally horrified.

Sounds like someone snatched up this idiot today though and taught him the facts of life. A shame the focus of the election was highjacked in this manner but frankly, I think that he deserves to lose for living to be the age he has and maintaining such a high level of ignorance and for being a jack@$$. If he is this ignorant about women’s anatomy and the facts of life, God only knows what other completely ignorant things this man believes or what decisions he might potentially make based on them.

[little jeremiah]So, what does “bash” mean to you? It used to mean hit, as with a baseball bat. Then various victim whine fest groups such as homosexuals started using it to mean “critizing” in any way shape or form.

    ................................

    Per dictionary.com:
Figurative sense of "abuse verbally or in writing" is from 1948.

    –verb (used with object)
    1. to strike with a crushing or smashing blow.
    2. Chiefly British, Canadian . to hurl harsh verbal abuse at.

    ................................

[little jeremiah]Man, did you not read that they want homosexuals in the military? You either did not read, or you agree with them.

    ................................

I reject your premise. I did read what they said. I do not support the agenda. We simply disagree about 'bashing' and 'shunning'. If that gets me banned - so be it.

The GOProud’s legislative agenda is almost straight up homosexual agenda. What do you think?

I think that refusing to verbally bash or exclude a group of people based on their ideology is not the same as advocating or promoting their position.

Oh, and btw - people who support the homosexual agenda are not “all different types of conservatives”.

I agree. I did not read any posts by people advocating that agenda here.

“FR is a conservative site. We do not appreciate our members fighting against us on our conservative values and issues. If you wish to support homosexual marriage or homosexuals in the military or hate crimes against us for speaking out against government promotion of homosexuality that’s your business, but you’d better do it somewhere else and not on FR. If you value your posting privileges, that is. FR is pro-God, pro-life, pro-family, pro-marriage, pro-military, pro-traditional American conservatism and it is a privilege to post here. Those who support the godless liberal/Marxist destruction of our free society and our country are free to exercise their free speech rights elsewhere. I won’t stand in your way.”

Worth repeating. Mr. Robinson, there are many on this thread that need to be banned from FR. OldDeckHand is one."

I've been here at FR a while. I have enormous respect for Jim Robinson. I respect his intended purpose for this site (not to mention the hours of work, the hassle, the commitment, the expense, etc). I am grateful for the fine work he does. My position is also pro-God, pro-life, pro-marriage, pro-military, etc.

I am not pro-witchhunt, however. I haven't read any posts here that today that are truly pushing a homosexual agenda or violating the rules set forth.

One of the things I have enjoyed about this site is that I felt all different types of conservatives could freely debate legitimate ideas with reasoned argument. I fear that time has passed.

NO Wrong it is people like you who silence people who speak out and help people like Obama Boy,Now as for the behavior and Aids afflicted Queers they have done enough damage here and need tone it down! I got news for you that was one of KSM’s Carping points and contributed to the 9/11 attacks.

I haven't done anything to silence you. I do not support the agenda of the left...nor do I support name-calling or the demoralization of any group - whether I believe in their ideals or not. To say that because I do not support obnoxious hate-filled speech I am somehow responsible for this administration and the attacks of 9-11 is utterly irrational.
