Yes, there often appears to be some kind of competition between cities to see who can come up with the most innovative and ridiculous way to squander taxpayers money.
Odd expression. But, I’m one of them I suppose.
I like cars. Once had 14 collectible sports cars.
Doubt I will ever buy a new one for the many reasons expressed in the article.
Too much crap I don’t want, don’t need and won’t pay for.

“If voting could change anything, it would be made illegal”.
I don’t recall to whom that quote is attributed. But, the corruption of the system is the equivalent of making voting illegal.
I similarly offer this:
In the Kurt Vonnegut novel “The Sirens of Titan”, the Martians, descendants of human colonists, board their space craft for the invasive of Earth. The craft only has two controls, an “on” and an “off” button. The “on” button activates the automated controls that fly the craft to a predetermined invasion point. The “off” button does nothing. It is just there to give the occupants a false sense of security with the illusion that they have some control of the process.
This is a perfect metaphor for the Democrat and Republican parties.

I find it disappointing.
Should be a historic blowout for Trump after all the crap we’ve seen from this demented President and his administration of circus side show freaks.
That first major paragraph pretty much sums up what I’ve been saying for two decades.
Counter attacking a single issue that can not reverse the decay.
It’s been a sustained multi-front assault for decades. Maybe half a century or so.
We are now seeing the fruit of their efforts. Who are “they”. Same issue. Many individuals, organizations, religions, countries and other actors. Many faceless and nameless. All seeking to destroy America and its principles.
