If I recall correctly, liberals want to cram so-called “gay marriage” down everyone’s throat (...and, please, no wise cracks about that metaphor) by requiring all states to recognize gay “marriages” performed in some left-wing state. In other words, if California allows two homosexuals to get “married”, liberals want to require all other states in the country to grant recognition of that “marriage” under the Full Faith & Credit clause of the Constitution.

Okay, then on the same basis, all states should be required to recognize a legal gun carry permit that a state like Tennessee issues.

    So, how ‘bout it, liberals?

Ya just gotta love it. Is this an appropriate legacy, or what? Was searching for topics regarding Clinton and Monica, and this one pops among the many. Glad I checked it out. I'll be laughing myself to sleep.

Admittedly, the results are unscientific, but I'd say it's indicative (at the least) that the generation we saved in WWI and WWII don't use computers (or AOL) as much as the younger set. Nice to know they heard all the good stories from their folks, though. Anyone for vacationing in Paris or Munich?

    Sullivan, as usual, nails it.

As for Belafonte's remarks, they bring to mind the punchline to that old joke: "There's a pony in this somewhere." But the punchline needs to be changed slightly: "There's a donkey in this somewhere."

Okay. Here's one place to begin...although Ms. Seuss would benefit far more:

When the Wicked Seize a City

Available on Amazon, and an excellent read, it's a book by Chuck & Donna McIlhenny and Frank York about tolerance, San Francisco-homo-style. Chuck McIlhenny was pastor of the First Orthodox Presbytarian Church in San Francisco. His troubles began when he released the church organist who openly proclaimed his homosexuality. The backlash from the tolerant gay community included vandalizing his church and rectory, fire-bombing his home (while he, his wife, and children were asleeep inside and almost died in the blaze), shooting at his house, and menacing the parishioners who came to attend church...especially on high holy days such as Easter.

Somehow, I don't think this is the kind of hate crime that Ms. Seuss (MCC pastor) had in mind.

This also gets me thinking about the Land for "Peace" deal that the Arab states (and, predictably, the Euro-weenies) keep pressing. Actually, the deal will work. Once Israel has traded away 100% of its land, the Arab countries will allow Israel to have 100% peace.

"There are no Arab leaders, no Arabs anymore," shouted electrician Ashraf Farouk, 32, who was drinking tea with milk in a Cairo cafe and watching Egyptian television footage of dead Palestinians.

Where to start in this 'target-rich' environment? The trouble for Mr. Farouk, of course, is that the Arab leaders HAVE been involved --- for the past 54 years --- but usually haven't acted wisely, starting with their war against Israel almost from its inception. Remember that the U.N. (in one of its now-rare moves) had voted to create a Palestinian state in parallel with the Israeli state. But the presence of Israel ---anywhere in the Mid-East --- was just too much for them.

And, let's see: States like Jordan and Kuwait expelled their Palestinian populations. And which state allowed them entry? Israel. What oppressive behavior!

Now, aside from the red herring that this current conflict has its roots in the "occupation" of Palestinian land since the 1967 War, its also is worth recalling that Arafat was terrorizing Israel even in 1965. So much for the '1967 borders' argument.

Just for fun, let's take a look at the land areas of the Middle East. Let's consider the countries there and the percentage of the land the respective countries have. For greater clarity, let's limit this to certain Arab countries and consider those that have --- at one time or another --- expressed some solidarity with the Palestinian 'cause'. Here's the breakdown:

    Israel (7,993 sq. mi.) 0.43 %
    Saudi Arabia (920,000 sq. mi.) 49.37 %
    Egypt (386,659 sq. mi.) 20.75 %
    Iraq (167,924 sq. mi.) 9.01
    P.D.R. of Yemen (111,075 sq. mi.) 5.96%
    Oman (82,000 sq. mi.) 4.4 %
Yemen Arab Republic (75,000 sq. mi.) 4.02 %
    Syria (71,498 sq. mi.) 3.84
    Jordan (37,297 sq. mi.) 2.00 %
    Lebanon (4,015 sq. mi.) 0.22 %

I threw Lebanon into the mix for comparison purposes, as one of the few Mid-East countries that's smaller than Israel. But, in this calculation, Israel comprises less than half of 1% of the total land mass of the Mid-East, while the Arab countries who continue to express so much sympathy for the Palestinians, comprise more than 99.5% of that land mass. And, if we add in other countries in that region, the Arab-to-Israel land mass only increases in favor of the Arab countries. And, if we included other countries (such as Pakistan, where mobs have been chanting against Israel, too), that ratio would climb even higher.

Now, my question is this: With more than 99% of the Mid-East's land mass in their hands, why can't these Arab nations (especially Egypt) find a small place in their midst for their 'Palestinian brethren' to form a state?

Makes a person wonder...but not for very long.

The man detectives say was an accomplice then reached for the rifle, so Shockey fired again, hitting him in the chest.

Arthur Hayhoe, the executive director of the Florida Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, said this case is "a tough call" for a group that favors strict gun laws. "It's still a shooting of an unarmed person, and that's always troubling," he said.

Can't understand why Hayhoe is so "troubled." After all, the dad's actions ensured that one more American remained unarmed.

Rightly or wrongly, this makes the church vulnerable to cases of abuse and thus they are inclined to settle out of court. The result is a virtual gold mine for lawyers while the perpetrator is shuttled out of the picture

Could this be another reason the Left wants sodomites (er..."gays") in the Boy Scouts? Once they're firmly established in the Scouts --- a condition which will hopefully NEVER happen --- it will only be a matter of time before an 'incident' occurs. Then, the Tassled Loafers crowd --- usually BIG donators to the political Left --- can try to sue the BSA into oblivion for having "allowed" these perverts to prey upon "the children." And, once the BSA disappears, that means one less organization that promotes the American values that the Left so despises.

The series of dark rectangles that crosses the image from top to bottom were created by the imaging procedure and are not real.

And here I was, thinking that the rectangles were zipper marks that resulted when they joined two photos together. ;-)

Seriously, though, the image is intriguing and it's always fun to see something from that website. Thanks for sharing.

Well, let's see: The target of this space probe was the planet Jupiter, which Pioneer 10 reached approximately one year after launch. So, we've gotten 29 bonus years due to, as Dr. Lasher of Ames Labs put it, "good solid design."

Now, is it just possible, as well, that when our focus was on actual scientific engineering and design --- versus affirmative discrimination, perversity through diversity, and various other social engineering efforts --- we tended to make better products? Not that we still can't, of course, but with a couple of recent, less-than-successful Mars expeditions tends to make one pause and wonder for a moment.

And, while I'm thinking about it, what does this space effort say about the liberals' rant about one culture being just as good as another? The Taliban is about 13 centuries away from this sort of thing. And even though France put up the SPOT satellite, does anyone really believe those cheese-eating surrender monkeys could accomplish the same as this? And we did this 30 years ago!

And, just to round out the opportunity to offend a few more leftists, does anyone even dare to think about what sort of design the Pioneer 10 plaque (pictured below) would look like if the satellite were to have been launched today rather than in 1972? The woman would have to be as tall as the man, we would have had to include the "other sexes" (sodomite, lesbian, and transgendered --- 5 in all, according to the Beijing Conference on Women a few years ago), and identity politics for that plaque would have made the recent controversy over the WTC "flag-raising" sculpture pale by comparison. Thank God we put a better foot forward in 1972 for all the Universe to see.

There was less excitement exhibited by the UMass administration which had campaigned against the union both in the dormitories and before the state Labor Relations Commission.

Is this not a delicious irony? In the very heart of the liberal Northeast, where the unions and the Democrap Party are practically joined at the voting booth, a new twist on labor activity comes back to bite 'em in their a$$es. (Ugh. Must have left a bad taste in their mouths.)
I'm gonna be watching this one with great interest, to see how the Dims up there try to handle it. It should be very entertaining!
(Of course, there is the question now of how much of the RAs' newfound wealth will have to go for union dues, which will ultimately wind up helping the 'Rats at election time. Who knows? This may wind up actually helping the Dems in the long run.)
