Requesting prayers for freeper, LadyX. She totaled her car yesterday evening. Her right arm is badly broken and had to be set with pins and screws. Otherwise she was watched over and protected by God. I would like to ask everyone to keep her in your prayers. Lift her up for quick healing and little discomfort.

President Bush just finished speaking at the National Guard Armory in Charleston, WV. The newsperson said she saw no protestors at Yeager Airport as expected. The expected protestors were those who appose the energy plan, in particular the issue of mountain-top removal (big issue in WV). President Bush was introduced by Shelly Moore Capito, our Republican Congresswoman. The crowd was wildly enthusiastic, standing and cheering for a good three or four minutes. The President gave his standard stump speech. He mentioned all the local politicians. The applause was lukewarm for Sen. Byrd and our Dem Gov. Wise, but spirited for our ...

A friend has asked me to help her find information on school prayer. I did a Google search and found to my amazment that the majority of articles were against school prayer. I never did find a good pro-prayer article. What gives? Are we not getting the message out? Also, I've been hunting for the article posted here a few days ago about the school in N.Y.C. that had given the Muslim students a room for prayers during Ramadan. I can't find it. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Charleston AP -A Sissonville (WV) High School student who was suspended after trying to start an anarchy club says she wants people to know she supports world peace - not violence."I don't want war, I'm not for Afghanistan," 15-year-old Katie Sierra said after a hearing Wednesday in Kanawha County Circuit Court before Judge James C. Stucky. "I think that what we're doing to them is just as bad as what they did to us, and I think it needs to be stopped."Closing arguments were to begin Thursday morning concerning Sierra's fight to form the club and wear T-shirts with hand-written ...

With the Mothman movie under way, Sinema Productions, in conjenction with the Sci-Fi Channel, will create a documentary in Mason County on the Mothman phenomenon.Producer/director David Grabius is heading the project that will depict Point Pleasant in the unique period of time, when flying creatures were major topics of conversations."Sony Screen Gems approved the project, but is essentially a deal between Sinema Productions and the Sci-Fi Channel," Grabius said. "It's also to give a chance to the people of Point Pleasant to tell their story since the film wasn't shot there and since they took artistic license with the movie."Grabius ...
  • Christian Freeper Opinions Wanted

Christian questions are something I usually avoid, but something came up this evening at Bible study that I would like some opinions on. Someone said they heard an announcement on the radio stating that this coming Sunday a certain church would be giving away a $1000 door prize. I was stunned, but some members of the class thought it was a good idea to get people into church. So I'm taking an opinion poll. Do you agree or disagree with the idea of giving a large sum of money as a door prize to get people into church?

I asked for prayers for my son on the prayer thread and got one response. I hate to ask again, but I would like to have some prayers to give my son before he goes to the hospital in the morning for some colon tests. He is concerned, as we all are, and I know how wonderful your prayers are. His name is Roy and he is very special. Some of you may have seen him with me in D.C. at the Rally and Dinner for the House Managers. Thank you and God bless.

Currently the small historical French settlement of Gallipolis, Ohio is burning. Fire units have come from as far away as 50 miles. A substantial part of the historical downtown business section has been destroyed. This was one of the most scenic places in Ohio, as well as one of the oldest settlements.

(Except)Moore: That's why we set up the Club for Growth: to be the conscience of the party. Our membership is made up of disgruntled Republicans who feel a little bit frustrated with the pace of progress. We have a two-party system in this country. The Democrat Party is hopeless. So we can never give up on the Republican Party. We have to take it over. You've said this many times, but it's so true. Just because we have a Republican majority does not mean we have a conservative majority. Our goal, now that we have a Republican majority both in ...

I didn't see anything on this yet and I've been watching our local coverage of Bush in Charleton, WV. There was a huge crowd at the Air National Guard Hanger. His speech was short and was pretty much what he has said to the military before. The biggest response he received was when he said, "You not only have a former Reservist in the White House, you have a friend." The place went wild. He had Sen. Robert Byrd and Rep. Shelly Moore Capito with him. Our nerdy dem. Governor was there too. Bush stayed and plowed into the crowd ...

The big day began at 9:30 as my two friends and I left for the 45 min. drive to Huntington. We made a couple of stops and arrived around 10:45. We were very early and found lots of parking available. We parked close to the entrance of the park and walked to the gate. There were three or four black-suit types talking into their wrists blocking the entrance. We waited about 15 minutes until they gave us the go ahead. We were almost the first ones into the park. I guess that's because we were 4 hours early.Harris Riverfront Park ...

Tapping into America's distinctly rodentish view of Washington generally, John McCain has been declaiming loudly against "money in politics." This part of his message, unfortunately, is just showboating. Total spending on all campaigns for fedral office by all candidates (major and minor) - including independent expenditures by unions and trade groups, all party payouts, all convention costs, etc. - came to $1.5 billion the last time we elected both a Congress and a President (1996). Meanwhile, that same year, Americans spent $2.0 billion on chewing gum, $21.5 billion on other kinds of candy, $2.7 billion on bowling fees, $27.8 billion ...

O.K. Time to lighten up. We had a couple of threads about why the chicken crossed the road. I believe it started out as a post by Kermit, who got it from someone named Spencer. Therefore the original post, while very funny, will have to be excluded as non-original. I was looking for entries by Freepers. As I indicated, my selection is very subjective, but since I'm the one offering the prize, I guess I'm entitled. Vote for your favorite and I'll tally your votes and announce the winner tomorrow evening. The winner will then e-mail me an address where ...
